In the end, it does in fact seem like the virus was an experiment. It's a shame we have no way to study what they managed to do; knowledge of the virus would have its uses.
I suggest everyone begin airing out their houses and the community buildings. The stagnant air just encourages nausea and illness.

I still can't see. This is going to get annoying quickly.

You seem better now, Mr. Silverberg. At least in terms of the virus. If I may be so bold to inquire what caused the loss of your sight?
[voiced]
I lost my sight when I was abducted by the Malnosso, Mr. Watari. They make no qualms about performing experiments that affect us individually when they do so.
[voiced]
A-ah... I'm sorry; it must be quite troublesome, I can only imagine. Filial magic hasn't been able to bring back your sight?
[voiced]
It is quite troublesome; I've never fathomed the idea of losing my sight. The Filial magic has its limits, and unfortunately this blindness is beyond it. But others have lost their sight before and regained it, so I am not without hope.
[voiced]
No, I can imagine it's one of those things you never expect to happen. I wish the best of lucks for your condition! I might not be a specialist, but if you wish I can take a look at it if there's something I'd be able to tell you.

I'd like to get started on cleaning the house, this afternoon. The weather is rather nice, and I have to admit to feeling a bit restless after this last experiment.
[voiced]
I believe, at this point, it's appropriate to call it spring cleaning. Do get rid of those feathers that are likely scattered all over my room.
I can be patient. As long as it will come back.
[voiced]
Yes, Albert. I'll get on it shortly.

Caesar?
S-Sorry...your eyes...

You're alright? But your eyes... Caesar... How's Caesar?

Caesar... Caesar has recovered. He's cleaning our house out at the moment.
