I see. The days here flow similar to what I'm familiar with. It must be quite an adjustment for others who aren't used to the system.

I didn't? I suppose that may have been the timing... but yes, I am.

Yes, Lloyd was telling me your calendar system is similar to what I've noted. The calendar differences make one wonder if the Malnosso are capable of bending us to follow the same growth rates; one month for us could be a day to someone else in our respective worlds.

It's always pleasing to meet or know others with an academic background. Do you research, or primarily teach?

Hmmm... that is an interesting thought to consider. One that I hadn't considered myself. Though ... considering that they have altered us in some ways, and have the abilities to manipulate what is impossible ... then that isn't entirely far-fetched.

A fair amount of both, depending on the occasion. I'm hoping to have an opportunity to do both at the school here in the near future.

Their power is amazing in that regard. If we weren't guinea pigs, I would like to study how they manage so much.

Ah, yes, the school. It may give something for others to do, since the Filial schoolteacher doesn't seem very strict at making people attend. I hope your endeavor will be successful.

I feel much the same way. We are at quite the disadvantage, not having any solid information on who they are and just how they are able to achieve so much.

At the moment, I'm only sure of a small handful, and that includes my former students, as well as Pearl, who I've been tutoring. I can only hope that others will become involved as well, but... considering the reactions when I mentioned the subject initially, that may not be easy.

What we do know doesn't help our morale at all. They're technologically superior, and there's always the possibility they can also wield magic.

It's a start. The younger ones around here really need something to keep their mind off of the despair surrounding Luceti, so whatever you can do is helpful.

Possibly, though I wonder. Why the need to experiment in such a way at all ... especially with some of what has been thrown at us already. To conquer a previously existing country who had shown no ill will towards others, then to systematically destroy them... and then bring outsiders into it?

Perhaps. Though anyone with a willingness to learn more is also welcome, not just children. There's also the matter of people having grown up with different variations of education, depending on their previous world's structure.

Their goals could be entirely outside of our field of understanding. Or they could be entirely sadistic beings that want nothing more than to see a cycle of ridicule and suffering. In which case, we need to end it with us and not all something more to come of this.

That's quite true; I didn't take that into consideration. Curiosity is a good teaching mechanism.

You have to wonder when they'll grow tired of us... already, they treat us as nothing more than playthings, when it comes to their experimentation. And then there's the conflict, of being here yourself, and wanting to research to understand more about your surroundings... it's all manipulation. But what more can we do?
