∞ 26: Sudden darkness

[Private to Sheena]

...It looks like your presumption was accurate on repeating the weather experiments, Sheena. This doesn't bode well.

/[Private to Sheena]

I'd like to speak to anyone that knows how to reinforce buildings. And anyone that has ideas on how to prepare for bad weather, start preparing. Now.

I heard that there was a terrible storm, several months ago. Were you there for it?

Do we have any earth mages?

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
I ... see. I heard that there were a few of casualties -- that was where that boy Haseo died, if I recall my information correctly.

Levees, perhaps, along the riverbanks, though I'm a bit better at breaking that sort of thing down than setting it up.

Are we sure this is another experiment? There's been nary a peep from the Malnosso.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
That boy, Gaara ... he can control sand. I'll try to get in touch with him, and see what his level of control is, as far as that's concerned. We should also gather a list of our water mages, just so we know who we have, and their level of skill.

I believe they at least made an appearance on the network, though the 'warning' in itself was negligible, at best.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
Kanakan wine would go nicely with that order.

Still ... it's not hopeless.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Just enough for a victory toast when we are done, my brother.

This is true, though some situations have certainly tugged on the spirit.

...you're expecting something quite bad, aren't you?

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I can handle myself.

Hope for the best and expect the worst, I've heard it said. It ... does have quite an ominous feel to it, though.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
What's that supposed to mean?

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
That's what I meant. Perhaps because it was due to the fact that it was my first campaign. Perhaps it was due to the nature of the enemy. Perhaps it was even due to the initial strength of my forces.

I'd not say it was unjustified.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
...hmm. On the other hand, I wasn't the only one playing tactician for our side.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, Al.

Maybe there's some hope for me yet, then. Won't Father be surprised?

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 08:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, you're right. Well, on the plus side, it means that "making the family proud" falls squarely upon your much broader and more suitable shoulders, dear brother.

...I was really hoping I was wrong.

But this is different from just spring rain.

I can work pretty well with all of the spirits, and maybe they can warn us or something, about what's coming. I'll have to see. I'll ask around, too.

...Back home we would build up the riverbanks and hope the water didn't rise that high.

[personal profile] corrinesbell 2008-05-26 08:24 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know if it's an experiment, but it isn't natural. Not like this.

We also have a lot more people with...different backgrounds. That could help, but it could be a problem, too.

[Private]
...If something big starts to happen, Albert...there are people here who need to be protected.
corrinesbell: (look over your shoulder)

[personal profile] corrinesbell 2008-05-26 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
The first one that comes to mind is a bunch of people trying to do things five different ways at once. And there are groups of allies and enemies here.

[Private]

I'm thinking of one person in particular who'd overextend herself trying to help with the elements, if it came down to that. I wasn't making priorities, just sort of...reminding myself, I guess, out loud.

[identity profile] winged-rogue.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
Bad weather? But it's just a bit of rain, isn't it? Then again, those clouds are looking awfully dark...

[identity profile] winged-rogue.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Deadly?! You mean... Cyclones and things like that?

[identity profile] themoonuplifts.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You don't think the storm will be that bad, do you?

[identity profile] themoonuplifts.livejournal.com 2008-05-27 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Eh... I was hoping to hear the opposite reply from you, Albert! Dash my hopes and dreams! I guess this means making sure the clinic will stand the onslaught of wind and rain!

[identity profile] kid-in-red.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll help out. If this is anything like last time...

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2008-05-26 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Those stormclouds do not look promising.

This has happened before, correct?
wise_maiden: (by the hallways in this tiny room)

[personal profile] wise_maiden 2008-05-27 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed. There's no telling when the storm itself will break upon us as well, but it is important that we can keep track of one another regardless.

Haha~ it's refreshing to see the big brother beat the mayor to the punch for once. It gives one faith in the power of age as a fact in determining leadership ♥
