[The weather is bad enough that even Gai has relented and is wearing an overcoat with a hood over his usual uniform as well (mainly because he doesn't want to deal with wet hair when it's as long as his is).

By the time Albert gets there, he'll have situated himself in the doorway of the gallery itself to keep out of the rain while he waits, thumbing through his journal to see if there are any other interesting conversations taking place.]

[He steps close enough to the building to stay out of the rain, nodding in greeting to Gai before speaking.]

I would usually suggest the tunnels to be a more discreet place to talk, but the recent activity could possibly interfere with us having a private conversation.

[Gai returns the nod with a hint of a smile.]

On the other hand, the amount of traffic the tunnels are getting means it should be easier to find someplace quiet in the village itself.

Under the cover of rain, we may even be fairly safe right here. [His voice is wry, as he is not in a hurry to start walking in the rain again.] Would you prefer we walk elsewhere?

[Gai just gives a slight shrug in response. He's not all that bothered by the rain, though he'd be just as happy to stay where they are.]

That's up to you-- I'm fine either way.

[He nods again, dusting at his wet coat as he speaks.]

You mentioned important matters.

[Now it's his turn to nod, giving a brief glance around to make sure that there's no one there to overhear.]

Yeah. I spoke to Molly earlier when she contacted us and managed to get a few things out of her that may prove to be useful in the future. In return, I gave her some information about some of the missions I'd been on.

[Before he asks about the details of what Molly provided Gai, he decides to cover a possibility.]

Information that you came across, or information that everyone on the mission had learned? [It was important to know what information had been bartered away.]

[Gai looks more amused than anything else by that question-- it's clear he'd been expecting it.]

Don't worry, I didn't tell her anything that everyone else on the mission didn't already know. It wouldn't do to just give away all of my trump cards at the beginning.

[He nods faintly, taking note of that and how Gai refers to his pieces of information.]

Very good. And it sounds as if the information you bartered away was acceptable to her. What did she say?

She told me that she was born here, though whether she meant in this specific enclosure or not I don't know. That's the reason behind the change in her wings. Apparently the amount of time it takes is different for each person-- there's no set timeframe for the growth process.

Hn... I had surmised as much about the wings, based off of what Specialist Davis said on the matter of children born here. [He does keep the vagueness of her answer in mind; that could be something worth following up on.] Interesting to know there is a possibility she was born within this enclosure.

It's something I plan on inquiring more about the next time I get the chance to speak with her. But that isn't the most interesting thing that I learned from her.

[He raises a brow at the way Gai phrases his reply, then nods as if requesting that he continue.]

I was the commander of a mission not that long ago-- we were sent to deal with a group of rogue Malnosso security forces that had taken a hospital hostage after they'd returned from a mission. The rogue forces were led by a man named Kovan Foster, and all attempts at negotiating with him or the others had failed.

At some point he'd managed to obtain a Shift-controlled explosive device. Somehow word of that little detail never made it to Molly.

[This sounds somewhat familiar, if simply because he had heard and (very briefly) talked to Precis over the secured network awhile ago. He nods again to show that he knows what Gai is talking about.]

I recall hearing about that, though not with much detail. Did she have something to say about that particular mission?

Nothing beyond expressing surprise about the Shift explosive. It seems like the information distribution system within the Malnosso has a few snags in it.

[His expression in response to the information is one of wry amusement; he can't say this surprises him.]

It certainly sounds like it. One would think a Shift explosive would be difficult to cover up.

It makes you wonder just how much else Davis has been covering up about what happens on missions.

[He's not all that surprised either, but having his suspicions confirmed didn't exactly please him.]

He certainly seems to have his own agenda. Have you spoken to him yourself?

Not recently. He doesn't exactly make himself easily accessible even under the best of circumstances.

Indeed. I believe I have only spoken to him at length once, and that was during the battle on the moon station. [...] It would be best to find out what other information he imparts upon others, whether it's about the Organization or himself.

Fortunately, I plan on doing just that. I don't trust him, but he's still useful as a source of information, even if not all of that information is the truth.

[He nods in approval, curling his fingers thoughtfully.]

It's something out of the norm. I will let you know if I hear anything specifically of the man.
