∞ 49: After the mission [action]

Turn down a few torches. We'll rest here for now.

[Albert's voice echoes as he calls out to the rest of the group to stop. It's been a steady walk away from the warehouse even though they had been told by their Malnosso co-conspirators to leave the tunnels quickly. Extinguishing several torches, as they had been every time they rested, would help keep the amount of smoke down.

He takes out one of the sunstones that Sigmund had brought along, activating it and taking a seat against one wall. He then pulls out a notebook and begins writing, keeping an eye on the others moving around in the semidarkness.

Really, the silence following their success was rather unsettling.]

[Blues was nowhere near being forced to stop, but he is starting to feel the effects of the tunnel. His energy drains faster down here, and it's an uncomfortable sensation... especially since it also seems to heighten the issue he keeps most under wraps. None of that shows, though; he leans coolly against the wall, still wearing his shades despite the very dim light. He's not convinced the Malnosso are going to leave their return trip alone.]

I'd be having a tough time if I didn't.

Far enough to tell we won't be getting company soon.

...Well, it's pretty much the reason I exist. Basically all technology in my world depends on it, in one form or another.

[That's because he's got his own internal generator, but he's not going to get into that.] Most of what it's good for is probably beyond anyone's ability to make, unless there's something down here to scavenge. It'll likely at least make all these doors securable.

Not on its own, really. Electricity can be used as a way of triggering a bomb to go off, but it can't explode by itself.

How much do you know about how electric currents work?

[identity profile] rhythmand.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... Basically what'll be happening is that there's wiring in the walls of this tunnel. When the power's turned back on, electricity runs through the wires and brings energy to the machinery down here, like the door locking mechanisms. If we're going to use electricity in the village somehow, we'll have to run cables from the tunnel into town. ...And with the limited resources we have, that could get dangerous.

[identity profile] rhythmand.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Then it's usefulness is pretty much limited to whatever the Malnosso've left here.

True... And we don't know what that Malnosso is planning on getting out of this, either.
