My thanks to those who answered Mr. Belmont's survey about practical skills. Knowing who has knowledge about certain skills will be helpful should there be situations where we need residents' specialties. I hope those who have volunteered information will remain open to the prospect of teaching or aiding others should the opportunity arise.

We're approaching the end of the calendar year, and with it the beginning of another New Feather cycle. Everyone remain alert for newcomers who arrive in this weather.

Especially considering the majority still arrive in the white pants or dress provided by the Malnosso. Quite an annoyance.

I wonder if they'll spare more people of being half-naked this time around? I heard there are some who wake up next to their own clothes.

It wasn't a problem. Is there much call for a cartographer in Luceti, though? I get the impression the maps are pretty much taken care of.

I had heard about that as well. Perhaps some Malnosso are allowing this because of the colder weather.

I'm completely open to teaching what I know, and learning from others. This is a good idea, if the list can be frequently updated.

The maps made have actually been done by amateur cartographers, and some guesswork in some particularly remote places, like the mountains and the desert. I'm sure you can imagine why that is.

While there are undoubtedly different versions of the Luceti map around, made by different residents, we haven't had an actual cartographer to request a full, official map from. [Raine has basic maps in the guide, I believe Karol has made a more detailed map for Brave Vesperia, and Albert has his own -- but everything he's said remains true.]

They've shown wear and some splintering in the cold weather, but I doubt you will need to replace many of the logs already there. [He's gone out around there with his horse. Once or twice.]

Well ...that'd give me something to do around here. I'd be happy to try once the weather clears a little.

We seem to see the extremes here in Luceti. How many places can you say have a temperate valley on one side of a mountain and a perpetual desert on the other?

Mr. Belmont has shown interest in maintaining the list, and I will certainly speak with him about how he intends to update it.

And the teachers at the school will likely appreciate the help. Learning practical skills like first aid would be quite constructive.

[dryly] It had actually been an earlier project of mine, to make a map or find a cartographer capable of making a detailed one. Coordinates, depths, comments on terrain. Accurate maps are quite important in my profession.

It would be a long-term project, but I suppose you're used to it as a sailor.

I think long-term would suit me just fine. It would stop me going stir crazy, anyway.

I have. I'm not much of a traveler though, even with my horse, so I rely on others' maps for areas beyond the forests.

That's true. The geography of this place is a mess. I'm surprised it could actually exist like this.

I suppose so. I would've figured you'd be a good cook though.

We still have no idea how much of Luceti itself is ... natural, so everything about the environment certainly makes you wonder.

A good cook? Perhaps good enough for everyday meals. I couldn't maintain a bakery or a restaurant as others around here could, of course. [...He's probably never tried to bake, for that matter.]
