∞ 102: A varied existence [action]

Days 1-2 (May 26-27)

[With the exception of a rude teleportation happening while he was in the shower on the first day, Albert has fortunately dodged the beginning effects of a very random experiment. He'll use that time to observe the experiment as it unfolds.]

Day 3 (May 28)

[Part of the day is unfortunately spent wearing the infamous Opera Mask, which is he well-acquainted with after last Halloween. While he can resolutely try to refrain from speaking (read: singing) with the mask on, he can't exactly stop the desire to stalk and attempt to abduct young women. …Not that he has anywhere to abduct them to.]

Day 4 (May 29)

[Another bout of normalcy. Time to go about his normal business and make sure there aren't people teleporting into the house or stables.]

Days 5-9 (May 30-June 3)



[A young boy no older than 10 can be found playing in the forest near community building 7 or up in the playground behind the school. He's restless and finding various ways to entertain himself, trying to change up what he's doing whenever his current activity bores him.

He doesn't mind his situation, or that he had to scour for clothes that would fit him before heading out. In fact, the first morning he detoured to play in the forest in an oversized shirt before getting to the clothing store.

On the 31st, he can even be found jumping in water puddles while it rains heavily. He's just … having fun. Enjoying himself.

…Speaking to him, however, may be a little startling, as he seems to have retained all of his memories of Luceti in this form.]

Day 10 (June 4)



[When he awakens on this particular day, Albert faintly thinks that his body should probably ache from running around as a child for the last few days. He also thinks he should relish in the fact he had gotten to sleep again.

After all, when one has no breath or heartbeat or need for sustenance, it's easy to forget what it's like to sleep. Such is the life of the living dead.

He can be found in or around house 42 in the morning, making note of the various things he had observed but not written down as a child, as well as reflecting on the last time they had such an varied experiment. Then it's time to wander around town to take in more of the sights.]

[chikai]

[The smile slips from the boy's face, and his brows knit briefly before he allows Caesar to pull him off. But he's still kicking his feet idly.]

You like strange things.

[mydearapple]

You just say that because you're a strange kid. You would be cute if you could keep your mouth shut.

[...but then again, that was probably true normally, too. Albert's problem was always his mouth!]

[chikai]

But it wouldn't be fun if you weren't so clearly uncomfortable. [The grin is quickly back, and he shifts on the fence like he's trying to decide if he wants to stand on it again.]

[mydearapple]

If I didn't know any better, I'd think that you were your regular old self trapped in a child's body. But that could never be true.

[chikai]

But you know better. [It's practically a pleasant chirp, and Albert decides against climbing on the fence again -- instead, he drops to the dusty ground, looking around from his new vantage point.] Otherwise you would be calling me stronger things than a brat.

[mydearapple]

No, I think that "brat" sums you up rather well. [He looks over when his brother hops down from the fence.] Why would you want to be called worse things? That's strange, you know.

[chikai]

It's not that I want to be called worse things. I just know what you're capable of. [He flashes Caesar a smile, then starts walking to the edge of the fence.]

[mydearapple]

[Is that what his brother really thinks of him? He doesn't know how to feel about that. He just shakes his head.]

You said you were playing, didn't you? Were you playing by yourself?

[chikai]

[Albert spins to look back at Caesar, but continues walking backwards.]

I don't exactly have anyone else to play with here. Except Astrid. But I don't feel like riding. [Probably for the best, considering his current restless behavior would probably do more harm than good on the back of a horse.]

[mydearapple]

It doesn't look like you mind, though.

[He crosses his arms. ...he's not sure he wants to find out what his brother's idea of "playing" is anyway!]

[chikai]

I'm creative. I'm managing. [He spins around again, continuing past the edge of the fence and towards the forest.]

[mydearapple]

Where are you going now?

[It seems like his mind is still in a good place, so he isn't worried that he might get lost, but...]

[chikai]

The forest. There's more to do over there, wouldn't you agree? [He smiles over his shoulder, trotting onward with such confidence for a person who had only been a child since he'd woken up and had been outside, barefoot, for a little over an hour.]

[mydearapple]

That depends on what you want to do. [But Caesar doesn't think about it too hard—he decides to follow after him anyway.] How can you play in clothes that hardly fit you?

[chikai]

Looking for clothes is so slow and boring. [A sigh escapes, but when Albert looks back, he appears pleased to see that Caesar is still following.]

[mydearapple]

[Caesar makes a face at that. It was kind of weird how he could be both... mature and childish at the same time.]

I feel your pain, Al, but that doesn't make it any less necessary.

[chikai]

How is it "necessary"? Children get bruises and scrapes all the time. [The grass starts becoming patchy as they enter the forest, so he's soon walking on the dirt.]

[mydearapple]

But getting them all the time doesn't make them fun. Unless you like medicine.

[Caesar just keeps following after him. He's much more prepared to be outside, so he's not really bothered by the change in footing, but he can already see his brother's bare feet getting darker as they go along.]

[chikai]

I'm not a baby, Caesar. I can stand medicine. [As he tromps through the forest, Albert starts humming what sounds suspiciously like an old folksong that dated back to the years of the Scarlet Moon. Then he's off and starting to climb up on a fallen tree trunk.]

[mydearapple]

[...man, this is so weird. He can't remember the last time he heard his brother hum a song. He watches while Albert starts climbing the tree trunk, but he doesn't follow after him.]

I sure hope so. If you cry, I'll laugh.

[chikai]

Why would I cry over medi-- [Albert's question is cut off as he stubs his toes on a bump on the log and, after a brief moment of childish flailing, falls right off of the log and out of sight into a bush.]

[mydearapple]

[Caesar frowns, but he makes his way over anyway to check on him. He can't really see anything without stepping over the trunk himself, so he lifts a foot to stand on top of it.]

Are you okay, Al?

[chikai]

[There's a short hiss of pain, followed by the sight of Albert popping his head out of the bush. Twigs from the thin-branched bush had caught in his hair during the fall, but he doesn't seem to notice them.]

...I think I need shoes.

[mydearapple]

I told you. [Caesar reaches out to pick a twig out of his brother's hair. After tossing it aside, he holds his hand out to him.] Come on.

[chikai]

[Albert looks at Caesar's hand for a long moment, then takes it with a slight smile.]

What do you mean? You were only talking about clothes.
