∞ 72: Observing the white season [written/action]

I don't suppose anyone has measured just how deep the snow is now? There haven't been long enough breaks in the weather to allow the snow to melt significantly.

It had been an early worry this season that some residents may be snowed in with the very cold weather we've had. Hopefully everyone is being careful about keeping an eye out for New Feathers and returning abductees.

[Albert has been spending less time in the house lately, for a variety of reasons -- exploring the new community building next to the house, taking care of his horse with the snowing continuing to pile up, and other things exposing him to the elements.

Today, Albert is in the bar, tucked in one of the booths with his journal and some wine. Perhaps he's hoping to get another Kanakan bottle from the bartender. Or he just needs the din of noise to help him think. Or perhaps he's waiting for something to happen.

Later, he'll arrive back at his house in the dark, in the early evening.]

[Guy slides into the booth easily, folding his hands atop the table.] Do you know anything about a blond, braided man named Yuber?

I do. [He looks at the Kanakan bottle as he responds.] He isn't a man, but a demon.

A...demon. [He pauses.] From your world?

Yes. [He averts his attention to Guy from the bottle.] But he is a demon of the battlefield. There is not much known about him.

Is that why he's been attacking people?

Yes, it's something natural to him. I imagine a place like Luceti bores him. [He knows it bores Yuber. It's almost impressive that it's taken him so long to go far enough to kill a resident.]

Well- Is there something we can do?

The same thing anyone has tried to do with other killers in Luceti, I suppose. We've had varying degrees of success with that.

The other killers were mortal, though. Is there really a way to subdue a demon?

[He shakes his head thoughtfully.] There is always a way. Whether that way is available in Luceti or not is the question.

A possibility. But then you run into other factors. [Like a human's strength versus a non-human's.]

So basically, we've got no plan on how to take out, capture or otherwise subdue this guy. Great.

That's the situation as it is. [Without taking his part of the issue into consideration. He'll allow a sigh.] I still wonder why the Malnosso brought someone like him into the barrier.

Not a lot of what they do convinces me that they give any thought to the consequences of things. [Guy slips out from his seat; he's finished for now.] Let me know if you need anything.
