∞ 74: A windy day [action]

[Despite the mild windiness today, Albert is sitting out on the porch of his house. He has a few notes and his journal with him, but he's mostly just out there to think and drink a little. The town meeting was just yesterday, and it certainly proved a few things he had surmised about the populace. There had been a few opinions he had heard that more clearly showed others' state of mind (some for the better, most for the worse), and he had to readjust those plans accordingly.

Now to think of the next course of action.]

Yes. That's right. Sort of. [SIGH.] It doesn't matter what we do. I just thought we could spend some time together. [Hear that uncertainty in his voice? He's pretending it's not there.]

[He's so nervous. Albert sighs as well, standing up.] I suppose you can come inside. I can put some tea on.

[Caesar kind of has to stop himself from saying, "I can?" Because of that, though, he isn't really sure what to say. So have an awkward nod.]

Uh... sounds good.

[Albert picks up his notes and journal, looking over his shoulder.] Bring in the wine, will you?

All right. [He isn't going to make a fuss. Caesar will go ahead and grab the wine for him. And when Albert turns around? He lets out a quiet sigh of relief. He could relax a little now, since being invited in would always be the hardest part.]

[Albert sets his notes off to one side as he enters, gesturing Caesar to take a seat in the other room while he prepares water for tea. He really doesn't see a point to Caesar's visit, unless he wants to discuss how the town meeting had gone. But that was too business-like for Caesar's current demeanor.]

[Caesar's more than happy to do all that, though he isn't really sure what to do with your wine, bro. He'll put the bottle and glass down for a moment so he can get rid of his jacket and his boots, and head over to the living room. It would be okay to leave the wine on the table here, right?

...wait, why is he so concerned about that. Caesar's just going to go and chill on the couch until Albert gets back.]

[When Albert comes back, it is to drain the remaining liquid in his glass and look down at Caesar on his couch.]

Are you thinking, Caesar, or waiting for me to think for you?

[Jerk. Of course he's not thinking. He was worried about your stupid wine. So instead of answering that question, he'll remedy this by trying to come up with something quickly. Hmm... what could they do...?

Oh! That was something. But in order to remain serious in his request, he doesn't look up at Albert. He couldn't be nervous anymore!]

Huh. You've probably got a lot of books or something around here, right? [...] Why don't we read something?

[What? That was an odd request, and the surprise shows slightly on Albert's face.]

Read something? Like what, textbooks?

[This is an intellectual house, after all.]

[He shrugs.]

I don't care. [And he really doesn't. He's... not even interested in reading at all.] Anything. Just nothing too boring, or I might fall asleep.

[Albert stands there, ready to just cross his arms at Caesar's behavior. But after awhile, he walks over to the side table and retrieves a thin book he had been perusing awhile back.]

Move over.

[He's going along with it? Huh. Caesar'll wipe that look of surprise off his face quickly and move over, just as he's told. Now, how to handle this...]

[He isn't going to read to Caesar. Nope. He's just going to sit on his side of the couch, opening up the book and skimming through it like it's absolutely fascinating. Silently.]

[Not going to read to him? Goodness. We can't have that. But since Albert's settled in now, he isn't going to demand that right away. Nope, instead, he'll just have to invade his brother's side of the couch so he can "see" the book. Caesar isn't going to say anything, though. He's just going to sit obnoxiously close, possibly leaning his head against his brother's arm. Oh, and "reading" this book or something.]

[Albert immediately tenses up when he feels his personal space being invaded. He looks over at Caesar, trying to keep his voice level (and not bewildered).]

What are you doing?

[Caesar replies sheepishly.]

Reading. [Duh. He motions toward the book.] Albert should read, too.

I was reading. [Until you did that. Albert frowns more, halfheartedly trying to move Caesar off of his arm. This is weird.]

[What. You can't do that. Caesar looks up at Albert, also frowning.]

I'm not moving.

[And now Caesar will get another look back.]

Because I don't want to. You're comfortable. [Which is far from true, because Albert obviously isn't very relaxed at the moment. But details.]

[What is this? Albert is almost wondering if Caesar intends to pickpocket him, but there's nothing of import in his pockets and there's no reason for Caesar to think he would have something important in his pockets.]

So you're going to just sit there. On me.

[Caesar doesn't answer right away, as though he's thinking this over. Of course, his mind is already made up, but Albert doesn't have to know that.]

Yes. I think I am. At least until it gets boring.

[Albert doesn't know what to say to that. It takes him a moment to reason out that Caesar will likely get bored very soon if he just continues what he was doing. So he shifts a little, then goes back to reading the book.]

[Huh. Even if Caesar's doing this on purpose, he was expecting Albert to put up more of a fight. Maybe Caesar just needs to give him more of a reason to. :|; So after another moment of "reading", he decides he's not comfortable enough, and he tugs on the sleeve of Albert's shirt.]
