∞ 78: One bed, two brothers [accidental voice / action]
[Albert's room is a neat and quiet place, and has been that way since he departed with the other draftees last week. One would expect it to stay that way.
Unfortunately, one Caesar Silverberg decided to take his decision of waiting for Albert in his home one step further, invading said bedroom. He's lazily curled up on his brother's bed. It's a much more comfortable bed after all, complete with nicer beddings than the spare sheets he would have used in the spare room. Plus it's out of the way and perfect for napping, and he'd only get woken up for meals...
He could get used to this.
The relative silence of the bedroom is broken by a clatter and thump as something falls to the floor. Caesar doesn't stir. If he did, he would have realized that it's a journal that isn't his own. It's fallen open and is recording the ensuing silence.
A moment passes.
Then there's a solid thump as something heavy falls on top of the bed. And Caesar.]
AHHHHH- What the hell—!? GET OFF OF ME!
Wh— Caesar?!
OFF. You've got bony elbo— OW!

[The voices are cut off by the sound of feet kicking against the wall, and then another loud thump as something lands on the floor—and the journal. The recording shuts off.]

[Raine's demand, however, causes Caesar to look at her in... confusion? Not because he feels like he shouldn't apologize but...]
What?
[action]
You heard her.
[action]
[action]
...even if he isn't even sure why he's apologizing. Maybe he'll just apologize for everything.]
Fine. I'm sorry, Albert. Sorry for kicking you and pushing you out of your bed. Sorry about the pillow, and not listening, and telling Miss Raine on you. Hard as it may be to believe, none of this was my intention. Except maybe the pillow. [He tilts his head.] That might have been on purpose.
[action]
Might have, he says.
[action]
Now Albert, it's your turn. You're in the right for this, obviously, but harming him for it wouldn't have solved anything.
[action]
[action]
...And he goes over to retrieve his journal now.]
[action]
... Welcome back, then.
[action]
Yeah. Welcome back, brother.
[action]
Thank you. [dryly] I have unfortunately little in ways of souvenirs; our equipment was confiscated when we returned.
[action]
They've hardly been idle, in any case. Most residents this morning found themselves either quite relieved, confused, or appalled at some of the changes the Malnosso made to the buildings.
[action]
[Raine's words themselves confuse Caesar, however. Oops. Did he miss something important again? He glances around the room but nothing seems different to him. Should he have been paying more attention? Oh well.] ...changes?
[All he can think of is how nice a nap that was 'til Albert showed up.]
[action]
[And while he can't see any of the changes immediately, he has an idea of what Raine is referring to.] They work quickly.
[action]
They do. And yes, Caesar. It would seem that they 'upgraded' the houses to be supported by electricity, similar to what we saw at the hotel all those months ago.
[action]
Oh. [This loser hadn't been to the hotel, nor the amusement park itself, so he was still a little lost. But it sounded pretty uninteresting to him, so he doesn't bother with further questions. He'll figure it out later.] Right. They did mention that, didn't they? I wasn't paying attention.
[action]
I'm sure you won't be the only one who will show ignorance. [Such little faith in the thinking capacity of the village at large.] Have there been any major changes, Raine?
[action]
[She steps away from looking at Albert's journal for a moment, to demonstrate the new lighting by flicking a switch, off and then on.]

[action]
[action]
...Raine, can I have this item removed now? [He holds up his forearm with the visible exsphere.]
[action]
[She'll walk over so that she can remove it carefully from him. And may be checking to see if he seems injured once she's close enough.]
[action]
I wonder what other kinds of things they'll offer in exchange for our efforts. It sure doesn't take much to please these guys.
