∞ 84: Solace from time's passage [action/written]

[Today Albert is in the sitting room of his house, leafing through a few books idly. The weather is disappointingly rainy for summer, but it's a pleasant change from the heat earlier in the week.

Eventually, he will fall asleep on the couch. It was just supposed to be a nap -- half an hour at most. But that half an hour turns into a whole hour. And then two. (This may even repeat in his bedroom later on.)

Sometime later in the evening, he will write in his journal.]

Accomplishments could be said to be life's milestones. Some are far apart, and others are so close together that they may very well overlap. Some may be considered mundane, and others utterly unique to your circumstances.

If you are willing, I would like to hear of a mundane accomplishment. Something that others could relate to. I will share one of my own: I graduated from school as a teenager.

[He laughs lightly, leaning forward onto his knees a little.] Thank you. It looks like you have been busy.

Today just seemed like a good day to take care of errands and start a few projects. [... And finish them.]

... All right, perhaps just a little more than a few. I also stocked the kitchen, so we don't need to worry about food. Oh! And I also found these perfect little lights for the garden. They seem to absorb sunlight during the day, so they can keep the area lit at night. Unfortunately I don't know if it'll work very well tonight due to the weather we're having.

[He will blink slowly at that. Maybe he's a little sleep-addled still, or Raine is actually rambling.]

[She waits with an expectant look once she finishes, blinking at him questioningly.] ...?

You are, ah, especially enthusiastic today, Raine.

I do feel like I have a lot more energy than usual today. It just seemed ... logical to put it into crafts.

[wryly] Perhaps you took all of my energy.

Ha, ha. She just shakes her head at that.]

... Although, I wonder if anything else needs doing today.

Perhaps dinner, if you are-- [Did he just suggest that? Erm...]

You must be famished after sleeping all day. And it's been so long since I've tried out any new recipes...

[S-- sigh. Sigh. At least Caesar wouldn't care too much about unique-tasting food. Maybe.]

It ... technically isn't a recipe if you aren't following any instructions.

... Of course it's a recipe! Once I reach a culinary breakthrough, I can then record the process.

[Oh Runes. He can practically see that heart at the end of that exclamation.] So... What did you have in mind?

[... Given that dinner was nowhere near her mind, she honestly doesn't have a clue. Her expression falters to something rather blank as she considers.] W-ell, I could try perfecting on my rice-stuffed lemon dish...

... It was well over a year ago.

It wasn't a very pleasant experience at the time.

... That's why it was a work in progress. If I could find out where things went wrong, then surely it would be better?
