∞ 84: Solace from time's passage [action/written]

[Today Albert is in the sitting room of his house, leafing through a few books idly. The weather is disappointingly rainy for summer, but it's a pleasant change from the heat earlier in the week.

Eventually, he will fall asleep on the couch. It was just supposed to be a nap -- half an hour at most. But that half an hour turns into a whole hour. And then two. (This may even repeat in his bedroom later on.)

Sometime later in the evening, he will write in his journal.]

Accomplishments could be said to be life's milestones. Some are far apart, and others are so close together that they may very well overlap. Some may be considered mundane, and others utterly unique to your circumstances.

If you are willing, I would like to hear of a mundane accomplishment. Something that others could relate to. I will share one of my own: I graduated from school as a teenager.

[Oh Emil. Albert hears the hesitance and decides to clarify.] An accomplishment others you know may find ordinary or underwhelming.

Well, I learned how to defend myself with a sword, even though I'm still not very good at it. Does that count?

Certainly. Swinging a sword isn't as easy as one would think. [Oh, how he knows that.]

Then I guess that's my accomplishment. It still doesn't seem like all that much when you think about it, though.

Considering some have no skill whatsoever with weapons, it is something to take pride in. Even more so being able to defend yourself.

Um, that's the part I'm kind of bad at.

...Then that's something you can strive for.

Yeah, I just need to find someone I can practice with.

I'm sure you will find someone interested in sparring with you. [The sword seemed to be the preferred weapon in Luceti.]

Maybe I can ask Yuri whenever he gets back...

He has been gone for awhile now, hasn't he?

Yes, it's been almost a month now. I hope they bring him back soon...

[Not that he's been keeping track or anything, really.]

I suppose the most you can do right now is make sure his belongings do not disappear.

Y-you really think they might try to do something like that?

If Yuri Lowell disappears from this world while under the Organization's observation, it's very likely to happen. They must not see any point in keeping one's belongings after the person has gone home.

Do you know that with certainty? Denying the possibility makes it all that more painful if it happens.

I don't, but... I won't let it happen. I don't know how, but I'll make sure it doesn't.
