∞ 90: Snowy springs [action]

[Takes place on the 28th.

Part of him is still surprised he made the suggestion a few days ago. If he tried to look for excuses, he could think of many -- the season, the new arrival of an ocean, the constant talk about holidays and good cheer. But whatever the reason, he had suggested to his housemates that they take their gift exchanging to an admittedly strange location: the mountain hot springs. And they had all agreed to it.

So in the early morning, he can be found in the clothing store looking for ... a pair of slippers. By noon, he will be on the way to the rec center to try out the teleporter and scope out the mountain hot springs for the first time.

And by mid-afternoon, he will be up in the mountains with his brother and Raine. Belatedly celebrating a holiday they don't know. Perhaps even celebrating the plaza fountain returning to normal after being shifted to resemble Bil for four days.]

[These have been bizarre holiday plans indeed, especially with how cold the weather had gotten. But it would be a nice change of atmosphere -- besides, the house probably could use a little break to air out from the cookies.

Raine would have brought her robe, swimsuit, and of course a change of clothes and some fresh from the dryer fluffy towels. Not to mention the gifts of course, and a small basket of snack-type foods for the trip itself.

The springs themselves do look rather inviting for the time of year, and it's nice just to look at the area while there's still some light left in the day. Though using that teleporter was an odd experience.]

It's so quiet up here.

[Albert had entered beforehand to show that the teleporter was stable, so he has already made his way closer to the bathhouse. Despite the obvious cold, the trails of steam from the hot springs and the smell of sulfur are quite ... refreshing.]

It seems we chose a good time to avoid other potential bathers.

[Caesar follows after Raine, mostly to hide the sour expression on his face once they arrive. He'd immediately decided he hated teleporting the first time he had to do it, and while this experience was a little different, it didn't mean that he enjoyed it any more. Of course, because it was so rare that his brother suggested to do things, Caesar would try not to complain too much about... anything. He would try.

He needs a moment to shake off that feeling. Time to focus on something else.]

I guess trips to the hot springs aren't part of the tradition.

It's a nice opportunity to try something new, while everyone's still busy in the village. [She follows Albert's lead toward the direction of the bathhouse, still studying the scenery.] It's been a while since I've been to a natural hot spring.

I can't say I have had that particular pleasure yet. Volcanic activity is rather scarce in the regions I have been.

We had a decent bathhouse at the castle. [And by 'decent', he means it was pretty nice.] It was rather lively.

The springs that we visited were in a rather remote location, on a small island. We got there by accident, really, but it was a nice distraction.

Accidental retreats. If only all of us were so fortunate. [He looks amused as he follows the small trail to the bathhouse, noting the lack of snow. He steps up to the bathhouse, glancing around inside before entering.]

[Caesar vaguely wonders what it must have been like in Harmonia... But as they reach the bathhouse and he steps inside, too, he also stops to take a look around.]

Seems okay.

In any case, we can appreciate the convenience of this spring. [A little sparse, and probably not well-insulated, but it seems to serve it's purpose anyway. Raine looks for an area to set down the food and towel packs.]

[Albert removes his shoes as he enters further into the bathhouse, setting his own pack against the wall while looking around.] It looks nice, considering no one is in charge of maintaining it.

Certainly. [He shrugs.] But we're not here to admire this thing, are we? [Caesar sets his things down, but unlike the others, he immediately starts digging through his bag.] Let's get in the water already.

[She shakes her head slightly with a faint chuckle.] I suppose you have a point, but it doesn't hurt for us to acquaint ourselves with the surroundings, either.

I suppose we know which of us will be testing the water first. [Albert snorts faintly at Caesar's impatience, tugging off his scarf so he can begin undoing his coat.]

Ah, how good of you to offer, brother! You should hurry up, then. We're all waiting on you. [He takes off his scarf and coat, working on placing these things neatly with his other stuff as he speaks.] We can get acquainted with this place later.

[Raine will politely move over into the other area to change and get herself ready properly... and wisely stay out of possible Silverberg bantering.]

[Instead of rising to the obvious bait, Albert shakes his head and shrugs off his coat. He then drops his pants, revealing the shorts he had put on back at the house.]

Please, take your time undressing.

That's boring. [More in reference to Albert not taking that bait. Of course, Caesar was also relatively prepared for this trip, so it doesn't take him very long to get ready anyway. Despite his impatience, he takes the time to make sure his things are put away neatly before he goes to put his feet in the water.]

[Raine takes a little more time to get undressed and organized, but not very long. It's just that her swimwear wasn't exactly the kind that would fit comfortably under her clothes. In any case, she heads back out to join the pair when she's ready.]

[By the time Raine is finished, Albert has joined Caesar in the pool. He leans against the smooth rock with one arm out to prop himself up, looking both amused and relaxed. Had he really waited this long to take advantage of these springs?]

[Caesar sinks low into the water. He would be lying if he said it wasn't nice here, even if it made him a little nostalgic.]

I think I could fall asleep in here.

[She sets the towels not too far from the edge, before she looks for a good place to enter, gradually, before settling in the spring, herself.]

Maybe we should try to visit here more often.

You could fall asleep anywhere. [It could have been a light joke or something more critical depending on the tone, and Albert sounds relaxed enough for the comment to have been made in jest.]

Perhaps we should come here again when the snow has melted. Survey the area better, climb to a better vantage point to see the ocean.

You should try it sometime. [Caesar doesn't sound too annoyed by it, so he must have taken it well.]

Anyway, I'm coming, too, you know. [Even though he'd much rather stay at the house. He's not even interested in 'surveying the area', he just misses traveling.] I want to see something different.

It's been a while since we've had our last real outing. [Considering the way the year had gone... had the last time really been when Genis was here, not counting weekend barrier surveillance trips after? Hm. She's not too keen on the ocean, but relaxing right now is more important, so she settles in a little more.] But it's certainly something to keep in mind, when a quiet weekend comes up. [And a look back to Caesar.] You haven't ventured too far from the village at all, have you?
