∞ 97: Peace and routine [action]

[Things have been fairly quiet in the village with the draftees away on their escort mission. House 42 is especially quiet, with its lone remaining resident spending each day feeding his housemates' pets and then taking care of the horses in the nearby stable. It keeps him busy enough.

He gets around to opening Sheena's tea house around noon today -- later than the last two days he has gone in. He never spends a whole afternoon in the shop; perhaps a few hours a day, just in case anyone is curious enough to look inside. Kogoro stays with him in the tea house, usually content with chewing on a milkbone toy he found in the item shop. Albert himself taps away at his laptop at one of the tables with a cup of jasmine tea nearby.

If anyone looks for him on this somewhat cold day, he can be found at the stables in the late morning or the tea shop for the early afternoon. He is also available by journal.]

[Albert blinks at the strange greeting, turning in his chair to acknowledge the person who had entered.]

Good afternoon. Yes, this is a laptop.

I've actually been searching for the one I had back home for a while.

Is it okay if I ask where you got it?

Certainly. I had to ask Sir Catherine for it. [Well, it had been more of a side effect of asking about computer books, but it all led to the same result.] He has answered requests in the past, but I believe it has been more difficult for him as of late.

[Ahhh, he was told he might have to. But it didn't hurt to ask at least.]

And I supposed usually him answering these requests comes at a price right?

[He shakes his head.] As far as I know, no. It simply took him quite awhile to fulfill the request -- nearly a month, for this laptop.

Nearly a month...

[That's actually pretty interesting. But still...]

So basically we can just ask for whatever we want and they'll grant it at no consequence? I wonder why more villagers don't take advantage of this.

Sir Catherine still has to decide whether or not to fulfill the request, lowering the chances of receiving anything. There is also the possibility he cannot find the item. [Which hasn't been an issue as far as he knew, but there were likely many private conversations about items.]

So uh. How's the tea here? [That IS actually what he came in here to get afterall.]

[He smirks despite himself at the change of topic.] Quite good, if I may say so myself. The proprietor is out on the draft, but she has begun a catalog of different teas to choose from.

Or, if you already have a specific tea in mind, I can prepare it for you.

I actually I'm afraid I don't know many other teas besides green tea. So, I guess I'll get that?

[And he scans the room a little.]

I guess you guys don't really have a sort of self-help tea maker or anything do you? [He doesn't really want to be a bother with the whole interrupting laptop tiems.]

We do not; tea prepared here is done properly, with water heated to specific temperatures depending on the type of tea. [It had definitely been ... interesting, learning about keeping an eye on the different water temperatures for different teas.]

I can prepare you one of our types of green tea. Would you like to have it here or to go?

[...He was quite glad that Yuber was not around to mock him for this subservient behavior.]

To go is fine. Just decided it would be a nice change of pace to have some tea today instead of the usual coffee I live off of.

[Hah. Live off of. See it's funny because he doesn't actually live off coffee. It's funny see. Ahh you're gonna be cracking up when you get it.]

[There is no laughter to be found here, you poor man.]

It does help to switch between them once in awhile; I drink coffee as well. [With that, he heads off to the kitchen to prepare the tea. Kogoro hops up onto the chair Albert had vacated, tilting his head at Bruce. He hasn't seen a customer before.]

[Aww, no laugh. D=

He jumps just a small bit when he sees the dog, being slightly taken by surprise. He seems like a friendly dog at least. Too bad he sucks at socializing with anything that can't talk.]

Uh. Oh. Hey... there. Little guy? [Should he pet him? Nah, he's not gonna pet him. What if he has fleas or something.

...

...

Hurry the hell up Albert. =|]

[Hold your horses, Bruce. Tea takes time. Which means that Kogoro gets to entertain the customer by cleaning his paw by, you know, chewing on it a little.

Eventually Albert will be back with a paper cup with one of those nice plastic drinking lids.]

Here you are.

[Omg. Don't clean that with your tongue don't you walk on it!? Cleaner than a human's mouth his butt. When the tea gets there, he'll smile humbly and take it.]

Thanks, I appreciate it... Oh, actually. I don't think I ever got your name? I'm Bruce.

You're welcome. I am Albert. Albert Silverberg. [He offers a hand to be shaken, if Bruce is willing to take it.]

[Of course he will!]

[A pause as he considers their earlier conversation.]
