∞ 10: Vestige of wariness

It looks like my feathers have completely grown back. I believe that was faster than how long birds naturally grow back their own feathers. Even the half-broken feathers I had to remove.

Is there a cartographer here, or anyone with experience drawing maps? I would like to see a current map of Luceti made; the only ones the library provides are old and vague. (Perhaps the Filial did not stray far from the village even before the Malnosso arrived.) That said, anyone who would like to assist with mapmaking would be appreciated.

Private

Just how secure is this line of communication? The Malnosso contact us through it to mock and taunt before experiments, but they do not seem to delve into people's personal entries. They could very well be observing entries and be able to access sections that are made private.

But how to make certain of that, one way or another? The events that led up to my abduction and my theories may simply be a construction made by a bout of paranoia. Whenever Sheena is able to tell me about her recent abduction, I hope to gain more information. But I will not be satisfied with this one trial; I will need more similar situations...

Hn. I've never been fond of this. There have always been more experienced types for gathering information.

I'm happy to hear that, Mr. Albert! I can only imagine how painful it must've been... but the Silverberg bloodline is stubborn, after all~

Drawing maps, hm? I'm afraid I don't have any sort of experience with that... but if there's any way I can help you, just tell me.

I agree. I apologize if we caused you any trouble or headaches during that experiment.

I'm familiar with the flora and the forest, but my specialty is the water. I haven't tested it since the water's much too cold to dive in, but in my world, we Ferines can breathe underwater. I don't believe the river or the lake would be of any use, but I'd like to know where the water is coming from and what may lie at the bottom of the lake.

Ah... thank you!

In my world, we have two species, Ferines and Orerines - water and land folk respectively. Unlike the Orerines, our eyesight is very clear underwater, and we're very fast swimmers as well. I'm not sure how I can record what I see, but once the weather warms up, I can assure you that you'll have my aid.

Might be able to...help, with maps. Done it...a little, before.

I won't. Just...offering.

I can assist in mapmaking.

I've studied a little bit of cartography for the fun of it. You may call me Nagi.

[OOC: AH! *embarrassed* I totally forgot who I was supposed to by replying as. XD]

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Of course I'm coming along~

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Don't tell me you weren't going to invite me.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
I knew that.

I think it would be best to start small, and keep within a few hours' hike to begin with -- go in an outwards, expanding circle -- or maybe, better yet, would be to split the map we've got on hands into beam-like quadrants leading from the center of the village, and do it slice by slice. I don't know how good of an idea it is to spend the night out, yet, but it has been done. Neither of us, and probably none of the volunteers so far, are used to cavorting on long-term excursions through this world, so it might be safer to get used to it first before going on a more long-term journey.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't sure how far out you wanted to go, for the time being. I imagine there are probably places that we won't be able to get to, regardless, though whether that's due to Malnosso interference or natural obstacles remains to be seen.

Otherwise, I believe this should be just fine.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. If I intend to go any further with the patrols, this will also be vital information.

Agreed. ...I wonder what's next? Ugh.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
I'm working on it, but with the recent experiments, and a few complications, it's been slow-going. I'll put it into action shortly after this excursion.

I'm talking about Sheena getting kidnapped, for the second time. I had thought the Malnosso would take their time with each of us before going for the second round, but apparently, I was quite wrong.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
I understand that as well, Albert. I'm being as careful as I can be, given the circumstances.
