∞ 17: Leftover clothes

...Well, that's finally over. I can't say enough how glad I am to be back to normal.

Now what am I supposed to do with these clothes?

Italicized parts in parentheses are mun notes. Please feel free to combine OOC and IC comments for this entry.

Part 1: The Basics

1. What is your full name?
- Albert Silverberg

2. Where and when were you born?
- 2/17, Lightning Day, IS [In Solis] 452 (February 18, Aquarius). Gregminster, then-capital of the Scarlet Moon Empire (present Toran Republic).

3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
- George Silverberg, strategist (Presumably for the Toran Republic, but that's unknown.)
- (Unknown mother, and generally unknown whether parents are alive in canon. For the purposes of the RP, both are alive and well.)

4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
- Caesar. Younger brother—rebellious, naive, bumpkin-like, atypically cheerful for a Silverberg. What he lacks in formal education, he makes up with innate audacity.

5. Where do you live now, and with whom? Describe the place and the person/people.
- First floor of community housing, sharing the community facilities with Caesar (an occasional nuisance, but more so a source of entertainment), Albel (a bedmate due to a Malnosso experiment), Farfarello (never met, but certainly does not want to meet considering Caesar’s comparison to Yuber), and, I believe, a new tenant.

6. What is your occupation?
- My public title is military strategist in service to the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia. Anything else is confidential.

7. Write a full physical description of yourself. You might want to consider factors such as: height, weight, race, hair and eye color, style of dress, and any tattoos, scars, or distinguishing marks.
- 5’11” (edited: He's officially 6'1"), 142 lbs., human, burgundy red (read: hard to pin, as it looks dark purple-red in comparison to Caesar’s) hair, dark green eyes. Preferred clothing is Harmonia-styled, though white trenchcoat is from Antei, Toran. Both ears pierced at the lobe and helix; green and silver earcuff (from Muse, Dunan Republic) commonly worn on left ear. Barely-noticeable blade knicks near the throat and wrists from various encounters with Yuber.

8. To which social class do you belong?
- Nobility, with historic ties to the military. Silverberg is one of the most well-known surnames in the world.

9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
- I'm perfectly healthy. (He suffers from a case of stick-in-the-ass syndrome, but that's about it.)

10. Are you right- or left-handed?
- Right-handed.

11. What does your voice sound like?
- Calm, dry. Borderline monotone when serious or angry. Low tenor.

12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
- "Interesting," "idiot" (usually referring to Caesar), fool (usually referring to Caesar), tactical analogies (though not as many as Caesar)

13. What do you have in your pockets?
- A piece of folded-up parchment, a small pencil, and ... owl feathers. I am going to kill that bird, one of these days.

14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
- I speak much less and ask more questions than most would expect a strategist to. Listening to and watching how people respond is an effective method to reading them. By and large, writing through the journals is a way of promoting deception, so many things I write nowadays are inconsequential. I frequently have a condescending half-lidded look when I don't respect someone, and I sometimes I drift away from a realist mindset and right into pessimism (not good for a strategist, but I can't seem to break the habit). I also have self-preservation habits, such as poison checking and scanning points of entry, that are better reinforced in war situations than outside of them.

Part 2: Growing Up

15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
- It was a childhood. I studied, read as a hobby, played chess with Father when he was home, learned horseback riding, and helped Mother tend to the manor's flowers. Then Caesar was born.

16. What is your earliest memory?
- Being scared of the smell of Milich Oppenheimer's house. ...I still detest overpowering fragrances.

17. How much schooling have you had?
- Home schooling from age 3 to 12, then training at the Soledt Academy of Military Science from age 13 to 18. I stayed on for an additional two years for in-depth study of magic and runes. (Albert and Caesar didn't attend Soledt together; methinks Caesar would have stayed longer if they had.)

18. Did you enjoy school?
- School was always a necessity; if I didn't finish my studies, I wouldn't be respected enough to find a job in any country, let alone Harmonia. I suppose I enjoyed certain aspects, such as historically-significant battles. I much preferred studying at my leisure.

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
- Primarily numerous tutors, Father, and the various professors and lecturers in Soledt. But my ideology was inspired by my grandfather, Leon. Grandfather's role in the Dunan Unification War also motivated me to learn about the True Runes. He was also the one to give me the information on how to summon Yuber.

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
- By and far, my grandfather. Grandfather's paradigm is to win wars as quickly as possible with the minimum amount of deaths necessary. His focus on finishing a war as quickly as possible to avoid long-term effects to the economy and ensuing political strife speaks of a greater purpose -- one that transcends human loss and propels the populous into a quick transition between ruling governments (in the case of victory). His willingness to use whatever was at his disposal to his advantage, morally questionable or not, also spoke to me.

21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
- I maintain a similar relationship for both Father and Grandfather; I acknowledge their advice, and then follow their recommendations at my discretion. I get along with Mother, but I speak even less with her than Father. For the most part, I was well-behaved for my parents and we got along fine; I had a petulant episode where I wouldn't listen to anyone, but that's about it. Caesar was, for better or worse, my shadow from the moment he learned how to crawl. Mother and the maids found it endearing, somehow. I watched over him after lessons everyday and read to him when he went around with that storybook of his, but seldom gave him any reason to be affectionate towards me. Why he looks back at all of that with fondness, I can't imagine. It was obvious early on that he was overly sensitive, and he didn't grow up the entire time I was in Harmonia.

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
- A strategist. Obviously.

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
- Playing chess with Father, helping Mother, reading, horseback riding.

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
- Curiosity, I suppose. I was one of those wide-eyed, easily-excited children very early on, and then I mellowed out around the time Mother was pregnant with Caesar. Considering how often Caesar followed me around, I suppose I was very patient around that time, too.

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
- I didn't interact with many early on, simply because of the home schooling setup. I didn't really become popular until I was a little older.

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
- This is ridiculous. What child doesn't kiss their mother at some point in their young lives? (Way to avoid the question~)

27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
- No, I'm not. I imagine it would be quite scandalous if I said it happened during school in the One Temple. Whatever; it's not important.

28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
- I think I've already talked about this. Grandfather Leon was my role model in most professional pursuits; really, I have little social life that isn't professionally linked, so that should be "pursuits." Beyond Grandfather, I can't say any one person greatly shaped the who I've become. My ambitions stem from many different figures, though none of the comparisons would be flattering.

Part 3: Past Influences

29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
- The day I agreed to deliver the True Wind Rune to Holy Harmonia.

30. Who has had the most influence on you?
- Grandfather. Luc.

31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
- Orchestrating the Second Fire Bringer War from beginning to end.

32. What is your greatest regret?
- Ignoring the strategist's creed to stand by one's master until one's duty is finished. (Now, who that master was is another question entirely.)

33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
- What a subjective matter. Summoned the black knight. Allowed him to have his bloodbath in Karaya.

34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
- Perhaps in the Grasslands or Zexen, though I doubt many outside of Sasarai's inner circle know the full extent of my crimes. Fortunately, I wasn't striving to improve my image in those areas.

35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
- Almost losing Caesar. I don't recall ever being that frightened.

36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
- This entire situation. Luceti.

37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
- Why regret what you can't change? It's a futile practice.

38. What is your best memory?
- I can't say anything really jumps out at me.

39. What is your worst memory?
- Watching Caesar suffer.

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
- As mentioned before, I'm a realist with a slight bias towards pessimism.

41. What is your greatest fear?
- Dying without making any significant contributions to history.

42. What are your religious views?
- No preference.

43. What are your political views?
- No preference. I'm not really that interested in politics, despite what one might think.

44. What are your views on sex?
- ... ...

45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
- I've never had to kill with my own hands, but my job is to decide how to end wars with the least amount of deaths possible. Some would say that killing is never justifiable... Senseless murder and slaughter tend to irk me, but once I’m on the battlefield, I will not hesitate to order assassinations if the need arises.

46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
- ...Evil is so subjective. Though, seeking to commit genocide is quite an evil undertaking.

47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
- No. No, I do not believe in soul mates. The very ideas of destiny and the Ashen Future do not settle well with me. Even the idea of the Stars of Destiny was hard to believe. …But true love, as in loving someone with every fabric of your being? Yes.

48. What do you believe makes a successful life?
- Making such an impact that you are remembered long after you have passed on.

49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
- I may not share my thoughts at all times, but I have no feelings to hide. (Liar!)

50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
- Nekobolds are stingy, most kobolds speak idiotically, elves are arrogant… Not so much prejudices as stereotypes. And, as they say, stereotypes are there because they tend to be true.

51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
- Such an open-ended question. Circumstances greatly vary, and choices made as well—so this is a ridiculous question to ask.

52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
- The only one that comes to mind is Caesar. Dying to save another is not something I approve of, though.

Part 5: Relationships With Others

53. In general, how do you treat others (politely, rudely, by keeping them at a distance, etc.)? Does your treatment of them change depending on how well you know them, and if so, how?
- I keep most at a distance and don’t empathize easily. I feel uncomfortable around children, as I don’t interact with them often. Caesar seems to be the only one I’m not constantly aloof around.

54. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
- I have no one “important” in my life. Grandfather is my role model, and my life is focused on the work ahead of me.

55. Who is the person you respect the most, and why?
- Grandfather. He is perhaps the one person I have no quarrel with.

56. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
- Friends? No. Acquaintances? Several. I don’t seek friendship, and no one seeks friendship from me. …Well, other than Caesar.

57. Do you have a spouse or significant other? If so, describe this person.
- There was this one… No, not really.

58. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
- ...Yes. And I abhor the Malnosso for forcing such feelings on me.

59. What do you look for in a potential lover?
- Intelligence, wit, like-mindedness, and good looks.

60. How close are you to your family?
- I used to be on better terms with my parents, but I’ve changed since I was a child—and there has been a certain amount of discomfort since they learned I took additional magical studies. I talk with Caesar more than anyone else in this world, which I suppose says something.

61. Have you started your own family? If so, describe them. If not, do you want to? Why or why not?
- I feel a familial duty to start a family, though I’ve no current interest in finding a wife. There is always a need to continue the Silverberg line, and I feel Caesar lacks the desire and sense of duty to start one. Maybe someday I will even look at it as something I truly want and not just an obligation.

62. Who would you turn to if you were in desperate need of help?
- I’m a bit dismayed to say it, but Caesar was the one who came to my aid when I needed help. He’s proven himself to be reliable in that regard. I believe Yuan owes me a favor, if I were to ask for it.

63. Do you trust anyone to protect you? Who, and why?
- No. The only one I have ever trusted to protect me was Yuber, and that was a unique arrangement.

64. If you died or went missing, who would miss you?
- Caesar. And perhaps our parents, if they ever learned about our fates.

65. Who is the person you despise the most, and why?
- This owl. I don’t know. I don’t hold grudges, and I rarely feel inclined to hate someone based on what I know they did. Perhaps that is why I had no qualms summoning Yuber.

66. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
- I don’t argue in the fiery sense most would think of when they hear that word, but when I know I’m in the right, I speak my mind.
67. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
- Not at all. My role is to serve and observe, and offer guidance to those that are better equipped to lead. I am capable of leading and have issued orders when it falls upon the strategist to make decisions.

68. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
- Large and small groups have their pros and cons. I prefer smaller groups so that I know who to hold accountable when things go awry.

69. Do you care what others think of you?
- Beyond them knowing that I know what I’m talking about, not really. Someday I hope my skill speaks for me so much that I won’t have to seek out the next conflict, like Grandfather.

Part 6: Likes And Dislikes

70. What is/are your favorite hobbies and pastimes?
- Reading, painting, gardening

71. What is your most treasured possession?
- ...My coat? I don’t know.

72. What is your favorite color?
- How inane... White. And black.

73. What is your favorite food?
- I have a preference towards seafood and game birds. Chicken, pheasant, turkey, quail... Owl.

74. What, if anything, do you like to read?
- History. Geography. Political and religious propaganda.

75. What is your idea of good entertainment (consider music, movies, art, etc.)?
- These questions seem awfully repetitive. I enjoy reading, studying, and occasionally talking to Caesar. ...Or gardening.

76. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?
- I used to drink occasionally in Harmonia, mainly for social reasons. Kanakan wine isn't really something to be missed out on, either.

77. How do you spend a typical Saturday night?
- Here? Reading or cooking. Back home, I would likely be enjoying a glass of wine while preparing for a meeting the next day.

78. What makes you laugh?
- Caesar, for various reasons.

79. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
- Idiocy. Pettiness.

80. What would you do if you had insomnia and had to find something to do to amuse yourself?
- Find out how that damn owl manages to get in and out of my room.

81. How do you deal with stress?
- Situations I can control, I work harder; I spend more time working than sleeping, in those cases. If it's something I cannot control, I internalize it and become moody. I also drink more.

82. Are you spontaneous, or do you always need to have a plan?
- I prefer high-level plans that take into consideration various possible scenarios.

83. What are your pet peeves?
- Undying optimism.

Part 7: Self Images And Etc.

84. Describe the routine of a normal day for you. How do you feel when this routine is disrupted?
- I wake up, read the journals while I eat breakfast, walk around the village for a short while... Meditate -- that is, talk to the spirits of this place.

85. What is your greatest strength as a person?
- My mind.

86. What is your greatest weakness?
- My inability to protect myself effectively.

87. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
- I would probably acknowledge Caesar's ridiculous assumption that I dislike him because of our different paradigms.

88. Are you generally introverted or extroverted?
- Introverted, I suppose.

89. Are you generally organized or messy?
- Organized, but not overly so. There's little point in making it easy for a thief to find what they want in my quarters.

90. Name three things you consider yourself to be very good at, and three things you consider yourself to be very bad at.
Good
- Strategy
- Lying
- Elaborate planning

Bad
- Relationships
- Empathizing
- Defending myself

91. Do you like yourself?
- This would sound like a self-help exercise either way I answered.

92. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons...)
- What's the point of explaining my reasons? It fits my purpose to be notorious.

93. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
- Another repeated question.

94. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Hopefully not in Luceti.

95. If you could choose, how would you want to die?
- I would prefer the peace and quiet of old age.

96. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left.
- Break my contract with Yuber.
- Tell Caesar he has to have children at some point.
- Apologize.

97. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
- That I am my own person, and not just an extension of the Silverberg name.

98. What three words best describe your personality?
- Serious. Analytical. Intelligent.

99. What three words would others probably use to describe you?
- Aloof. Uncaring. Cold.

100. If you could, what advice would you, the player, give to your character? (You might even want to speak as if he or she were sitting right here in front of you, and use proper tone so he or she might heed your advice...)

...I can't tell if you enjoy talking with Caesar or not, simply because your tone never seems to differ when you're talking to him. Of course, you probably enjoy your supposed duality... Well, guess what? Caesar's under the impression that you like him, and you still seem to be clinging to the idea that he can read your mind. It's not exactly fair to him to keep throwing mixed signals, and you need to acknowledge that you did a lot for him when he was little.

Furthermore, this was supposed to be a chance for you to write down your thoughts. What's up with this "This is ridiculous" attitude? Hmph. See if I let you fill one of these out again.

I think he might be able to handle it. Aya might want to double-check it, though. XD

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
Because Albert, despite fluffy interludes, is still an enormous prick.

I think Aya'd find it hard not to laugh too, though.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, this is true.

He doesn't like that, though.

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
This is true. v.v Albert's too Albert, Aya's too unfunny, Aya-chan's too cute to laugh at ... Caesar's stuck with it, it seems. :o

Oh god yes. It would be fantastic! He totally should; maybe enlist Lloyd's help in carving some stuff out. <3 I'd love to see the four of them (or more!) tear it up in Diplomacy. Caesar would lose the first few games so hard, because he's just too honest. D:

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
He can't disagree with this one. >.>

Well, it's an earth game, and there's a metric fuckton of earthlings around here ... including their roommates? (Funny, that.) I'm sure someone will bring up Risk around the strategists, and then it's gonna be look oout and bring eye protection. XD

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god yes.

I foresee long, ugly battles, physical restraint, and a lot of Caesar yelling about there being no dice in a real battle. XD;;

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, true, true. Convenient forgetting?

Oh god, could you imagine a Silverberg-exclusive Risk game?

[identity profile] nowarstowin.livejournal.com 2008-03-06 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
Who would win?

My money goes to Leon. :0
