∞ 20: Numbers [voice/action post]
[Thick, rasping breaths can be heard over the sound of pages being turned. The voice heard sounds hollow and weary.]
...four...five...six...seven...eight...nine......ten...
[A few moments pass before the voice continues, flat and cold.]
In the process of...three days, we've lost 10% of the population to this sickness. Roughly 40% of those actively...using their journals have the sickness, and all-- all are affected by what's going on at some level.
The method of contagion is still unknown. Contact with those affected doesn't seem...to lead to infection in every case, but it's hard to tell without a full consensus of the Filial.
This is believed to be an experiment, and...the supporting evidence would be the Malnosso...not reanimating those that have died. A severe hypothesis would be that subjects are being systematically culled...but the Malnosso continue abductions and returning those that have been abducted.
We may...have to wait several days, when the experiments have traditionally ended, to see what...becomes of those killed... To see if this is in fact an experiment.
Four days... In which, based on current count, we potentially will have lost 25% of the population.

That's... too much...

Assuming this is the Malnosso's fault... It truly shows how...completely they can destroy us.
no subject
... I think they've exploited that enough.

Albert...
That many... Why can't we stop this? Why...?
...How are you feeling?
[Voiced]
I'm... I'm feeling better, Stella. Caesar has gotten worse, but...I'm confident he'll get better, too.
What about you? You don't sound well.
[Voiced]
[She sounds shocked, though pleasantly so] ...You're feeling better? You... that's good news, Albert! So it may be possible to recover from this... But... [the happiness wears away a little] Caesar... please, tell me if you need me there. I know he barricaded the door, but if he needs it I-- I'll break past it.
...I'll be fine. I'm just... overworked, I suppose.

You don't sound too good yourself. Would you require help in anything?

I'm slowly recovering from the virus. It's...not something that can be helped, I think.
Your name, if you will? I am Albert Silverberg.

Ah, I'm glad to hear you're getting better.
My apologies, I should have introduced myself. I'm Watari Yutaka, pleased to make your acquaintance, Mr. Silverberg.

In my world, depending on where you've come from, there are certain diseases that do not affect you as badly as those who come from another country.

You haven't fallen ill, Usagi?
no subject
No, It seems I started getting some symptoms yesterday...
