All residents, please refrain from putting yourselves into harm's way. Especially alone. We do not need to turn half the village into a rescue operation whenever new, controllable situations arise.

... That's insanity. Not to mention dangerous.

Apparently so; the beginnings of a tunnel is visible where the sinkhole began to give way.

[dryly] When has danger and insanity deterred some of Luceti's residents from throwing themselves the unknown? Alone?

That's true enough. Perhaps they simply don't care of their own lives, or the fact that people have organized themselves into groups for this reason.

Yuri and Vyse should be working on mobilizing their groups. Cloud is organizing others to secure the area.

Perhaps they think their individual whims are more important than staying safe and gathering information effectively. Perhaps they think they are fully equipped to deal with unknown dangers without backup. Either way, they are foolish to presume so and contemptible.

Indeed. I suppose right now there is little that can be done about them, at this point, only to focus on what the groups can do. It's probably a trap.

It probably is a trap, yes. Vyse and Yuri have likely come to the possibility as well. At least they will provide a balanced front as opposed to those who are either alone or disorganized.

I... hadn't decided that yet. If everyone is mobilizing now, I should likely see if I can join them; we don't know what there could be down there, trap or otherwise. Considering the way this happened, the experiment itself isn't clear, if one is involved. A bit how the situation progressed at the end of last month...

Your indecision speaks of a deeper concern, Professor.

We aren't certain if this hole can actually lead to anything, save a few people being ridiculous and getting themselves lost without supplies. The ground may very well collapse in other places, and that certainly wouldn't be of help.

Certain people may use the leaving of the others as a chance to cause some chaos up here. I haven't decided which is the best option to take in the middle of all of this, that's all.

You aren't going?

I don't believe anyone in the assembled groups believes this to be a long rescue mission. If this extends to several hours long, we will of course coordinate runners to send provisions. As for the ground collapsing... That is clearly a risk to be taken when it comes to getting out the foolhardy individuals.

I am sure Cloud is aware of the shift that can take place with Brave Vesperia and the Blue Rogues distracted. If we learned nothing from the barrier experiment, we at least learned that there are many willing to volunteer who do not belong to either group. We have the cooperation of Lute in the clinic for any and all injuries, as well.

I will be maintaining a base of operations, of sorts. I have no skills that will be useful during a rescue mission.

Determined as they were to go in, it wouldn't surprise me if these individuals were to resist being rescued. Whether or not the tunnels could lead to something more is... debatable. Convenient, but, the Malnosso may even decide to repair the well and seal the topside once enough people go in.

And yet, my own skills dictate that I should go.

If the Malnosso decide that this was nothing more than an experiment of impulse, we at least have the tools necessary to break through the ground again.

Do as your logic dictates for the moment, Professor. You are one of the few intelligent, active minds in Luceti, and your analysis of the situation would be useful both above and below ground.

Yes... hm. There is a lot to consider, and little time to consider it. Although at the very least it does present a new test for our discussion a few nights ago.

Perhaps I should look into contacting Yuri Lowell, then, or simply joining the others at the well. It shouldn't take them too long to gather the resources necessary for a rescue mission, and the tunnels themselves may bear investigation, if that is indeed the case...

We will certainly have to see what becomes of this matter. We haven't really had an experiment that resembles this.

We will take this one step at a time. Our primary objective is to safely bring everyone back to the surface. Exploration is secondary.

Not at all. And considering what we have faced in the past, we should be well aware that anything is possible. Usually for the worst, if this is a means of determining our reactions.
