chikaidestroyer | ∞ 45: A nightmare [voice/action]

[Albert silently moves over to pick up the books on the floor, shaking his head. He doesn't like this at all. He needs to not be able to see his reflection right now.]

[First things first; the bird. While Albert busies himself with straightening up his mess, she moves towards the door with Rune. Though since her hands are full, she can't open the door, so she waits.]

[Albert exits the room shortly after her, shutting the door. His footsteps make no sound as he walks down the hall and to Raine's side.]

Thank you for taking care of him.

[With that, he opens her door.]

... You can thank me by giving me an explanation after I get him settled.

[With that, she steps inside.]

[He leans against the doorframe, not wanting to enter the room after her.]

An explanation of what, exactly?

[If he were to take a better look around, even without entering, he'd see that she was in the middle of... "organizing" papers, some in piles on the bed in the corner and others on the desk.

The body you're currently inhabiting, of course.

[She finds a cloth to dry the blood from the bird's talons before settling him... somewhere comfortable, in there.]

[You better not lose him in the middle of all of your papers, Raine. Albert watches quietly, though his gaze is really obscured by the hat he's wearing.]

A demon from my world. Clearly I didn't realize my own strength when I tried to remove Rune.

[The owl will be fine. Raine casts one last stabilizing spell on him before turning, finding another washcloth, and spare note paper, before turning towards Albert again]

... Clearly.

[He shakes his head again. The long hair is a strange new weight he will have to get used to. It's only a week. His calm tone belies how he really feels about this turn of events.]

I suppose this is better than being turned into a ... dragon, or something else large and cumbersome.

Judging from what's been said, there seem to be a lot of those popping up. We're lucky that Mark is in the clinic, or he'd throw a fit.

[She indicates his cheek] May I?

A fit? I'm unaware of what dragons signify in his world.

[To the question, he gives a slight nod.]

[Nods, and then moves to step out of the room, since he doesn't seem to want to come inside.]

Mm... it's a long story, which goes back to an ancient war he told me about called the Scouring... actually, he wrote out the details of what he knew down for me. It's quite interesting. Apparently they are a quite powerful race...

Mark certainly seems quite frightened of the mere prospect of them, especially at the thought of the Malnosso being able to summon them. He's fretted quite often on the subject, particularly after his first kidnapping... and even though none of the current situation is related to his world's dragons, unfortunately, he is unable to differentiate between what he knows and the truths of what we face here.

I see. So he fears the possibility of the Malnosso bringing fourth dragons.

[He walks further down the hall and out to the front rooms, heading over to where the kitchen table is. He takes a seat, realizing his height would make it difficult to clean the cut on his face.]

I imagine the planes of men and dragons are also separated in his world.

[Raine closes her door behind her as they leave, and nods as he sits, since that would have been her next request, and instead, moves closer so she can start cleaning the wound, carefully wiping the blood with a cloth]

I believe that they may be, yes, considering what he's told me. There was a being who was attempting to open a gate between their 'worlds', though I'm sure Mark would do well to tell you more about the specifics.

[Albert keeps his chin still, his eyes half-shutting as he attempts to relax.]

In my own world, there is a Rune that is dedicated entirely to the dragons. It is said that the Rune allows the dragons to exist in our 'world,' since it isn't the one from which they originate.

That's interesting. I don't think it's quite the same thing... but an interesting concept, regardless.

[She finishes wiping the blood away, only to find that there isn't a cut at all] ...?

From your reaction, I presume dragons are not uncommon in your world.

[He tilts his head when he realizes Raine has paused.] ...As I said, a demon.

In a sense, yes, though I'm sure if you compared them, it's likely the only thing they truly share is the name.

Is there anything else I should know?

True enough. I'm sure even the most common of animals have their differences in each world.

He is a killer.

I was just speaking to Lloyd about that recently. Although I suppose it hardly matters here... it just makes for interesting learning material. The more subtle differences, in any case.

[There's a slight pause. Obviously she's disappointed that he didn't think to bring any of this up sooner, but for the moment Raine will consider it as him being more disturbed than he wants to let on.]

[He nods ever so slightly.] We will need to ... keep watch of how others behave under this duress. This is only the beginning of the experiment.

Yes, exactly.

Indeed. It doesn't seem likely that the Malnosso would encourage such... changes, without some twist to it. It's only fitting that they'd choose something which prompts much... disorganization. I suppose I honestly shouldn't be surprised. In any case, considering the numbers, the only real trouble it's likely to come down to is ... willing manpower, as usual.

Or we could just let everything devolve into chaos.

... [She pauses slightly at that, but assumes he's just being sarcastic.]

There are a fair amount of people who've yet to divulge their identities. Seeing as how few responded to the census being made on them while changed, another method will need to be implemented. Perhaps I can see if Vyse or Yuri are willing to send someone door to door... provided that there are enough Rogues and other members left intact, which I'm beginning to wonder. That boy who began writing his own lists might be of use for such a venture... perhaps for now it'll be enough.

You being transformed hardly helps matters, either, but I suppose something of this nature should have been expected eventually.

I hardly see the point of attempting the census in this situation. ["Or ever."] You will never have a complete picture of the village's inhabitants.
