[For lack of anything better to do on a nice summer afternoon, Albert has decided to sit in the library with a ... somewhat-odd setup. A map stretched across a table out of sight from the front door, dotted with small wooden figures designed as soldiers, cavalry, archers, mages... The map, upon closer inspection, shows patches color that denote plains, mountains, water bodies, and forests.

In some ways, the setup looks like a game board. It's really a lasting reminder of another strategist's presence in Luceti; he was the one who had introduced Albert to the method of practice, after all.

Nearly two years in Luceti without access to strategy books and news of warfare have dulled his skills. He doesn't look pleased as he makes moves for both armies.]

[...Okay, definitely can't ignore that. Albert looks up at the sound, turning to see ... well, a kid in a twitchy pile on the floor. He doesn't say anything for a moment. Once he's satisfied that no one else is around, he clears his throat.]

Are you all right?

[scrambles up to his feet] Yeah, I'm fine. [...but heeeey now that he's got Albert's attention...] What's that?

[He glances back at the table, following Taichi's gaze.]

I suppose it's best described as a war game.

A war game? [He'll walk a bit closer, peering down at the little figures and the map itself]

[He vaguely points at the different units positioned on the map.]

Correct. Soldiers, cavalry... Do you see the differences?

[looking over the map, maybe curiously poking at one of the soldiers] Yes. Well...kind of anyway.

[He's probably faintly amused, though also trying to keep his ideas together in the back of his mind. Perhaps this is for the best; he's rarely left to his own devices for long when he should be making plans, after all.]

Were you looking for something?

Not really. I haven't really been in here a lot so I thought I'd look. [Really it's an excuse to escape the prying eyes of Raine/Yamato and he knows neither of them will expect him to be in there]

[He figured Taichi as the very active type, going by some of his journal entries, so Albert is fairly placated by the explanation.]

You can find fictional books on the other side, if that's what you would prefer reading. Nonfiction is along these walls here.

...you don't know if they have any books about this place, do you? I might get a storybook for my sister but I'm looking for anything that might explain things better than the guide.

Nothing about the geology or general structure of the world, no. But there are mentions of the Luceti spirits, if you find the correct book. It would be too easy if we were given all our answers in this library.

That could work. Genis told me a little about contacting the spirits but not a lot. I've been sitting out there for a few days trying to contact Eferin but I'm not sure it's working.

Have you had any contact with the lower spirits? You would know them as the annoying voices that tease and insult you just about every chance they get.

Maybe once but I think that was an accident. Are they around a lot?

They're what you could call the 'wall' keeping you from contacting Eferin directly. If you are concentrating correctly, you will be able to hear their voices.

[ooc: Pfft. ...I totally thought that was a bowl of water until I actually looked at the icon.]

So...if I can get past the lower ones, I can contact Eferin? That shouldn't be too hard.

Correct. And it may be easier said than done, for some; the spirits are annoying, and not all of the residents here are known for their patience.

[...yeah going to choose not to mention his lack of patience] Well do the spirits ever get annoyed enough that they'll just give in?

I'm not sure if the spirits are intentionally annoying or are annoying by nature; they seem to thrive on making fun of those talking to them. You just need to be persistent.

Then you should be fine. Just give it time and you will reach Eferin.

I'm sure the Professor would have been able to answer your questions if the correct conversation was followed. Topics tend to change quickly.

Yeah I guess so. But usually I have other things to ask her about anyway.
