[It's an early overcast morning in Luceti. Just beyond the makeshift barricades to the east of the village are several tree stumps, reminders of the flurry of activity before the August battle. If anyone happens to be passing by or through the area, they may see a horse and rider moving amongst the tree stumps. It's a well-practice motion now, quickly weaving through the tree stumps. Some of the sounds may be audible over the journal.

There's a pause as Albert brings his horse to a stop. And then a sigh audible over the journal.]
I want something to drink. ...Perhaps tomorrow night.

[Then it's back to practicing.]

Quite a few abductions in the last two or three days. Perhaps the Malnosso feel confident enough about the situation that they can continue some of their research.

We must still be cautious, though. Until we know that the intruders are no longer trying to breach the barrier, everyone should continue to carry their weapons with them. We do not know if they will try to breach the barrier again from the east, so we may not have much time to prepare if they get through again.

I thank everyone who came together in such a short time. We were able to accomplish much more under the threat of danger than we were in times of peace. [He knew it would happen, but he's hoping others will catch onto that fact.]

The eastern barricade has been completed, and there has been considerable work done on extending the barricade to the north and south of the village.

I recommend that everyone who has been physically exerting themselves the last few days to get some rest. We have basic defenses in place, and injuring or exhausting ourselves now would be foolish.

[Such a hypocrite at times. He hasn't been sleeping since his initial calls for action four days ago. Not that he feels tired; this is that kind of work he was born to do.

...

Okay, so he's threatening to doze in Astrid's stable. His horse is being nice and acting as a cushion.]

Genis, please send a message when dinner is ready. I will be out for awhile.

If anyone needs me, I will be in the library.

[action]

[For lack of anything better to do on a nice summer afternoon, Albert has decided to sit in the library with a ... somewhat-odd setup. A map stretched across a table out of sight from the front door, dotted with small wooden figures designed as soldiers, cavalry, archers, mages... The map, upon closer inspection, shows patches color that denote plains, mountains, water bodies, and forests.

In some ways, the setup looks like a game board. It's really a lasting reminder of another strategist's presence in Luceti; he was the one who had introduced Albert to the method of practice, after all.

Nearly two years in Luceti without access to strategy books and news of warfare have dulled his skills. He doesn't look pleased as he makes moves for both armies.]

...Sheesh. I don't need all this yelling when I'm trying to catch a nap.

Look, it's obvious that there's an experiment going on. Just deal with it. It'll be over with in a week.

If it really matters, it's also obvious that people are turning into things that they despise.

[action]

[In house 42, there's a teenager lying on the couch. Bored. And probably trying to take a nap again.]

[A late day finishing up study along the barrier has led to the traveling trio of Albert, Raine, and Genis setting up camp very late in the day. The flickers of fire hovering around in the dark are not from torchlight, but Eferin's minor spirits providing the researchers with light to look around by.

Albert trudges by with a bundle of firewood, setting it next to the beginnings of a campfire. There's a lot to think about as they travel back.]

A word to our numerous New Feathers: Do be careful what you say when our endearing captors come asking questions. You might just have your throat torn out for talking back.

[sound/voice]

[There's the sound of fingers tapping on a tabletop.]

...So many variables changing in this past year. Hn.

[For all intents and purposes, Albert shouldn't be outside of the house. He especially shouldn't be doing any sort of work that will strain his neck. And yet, he's crouched over a flowerbed with a listless expression, pulling weeds. Oh, how the mighty have fallen?]
chikaidestroyer: (Standing back)
[Considering what's been going on with his housemates recently (that is, Raine working herself into sickness), it should come as little surprise that Albert is out of the house. Unlike most of his other outings, he is notably astride his white horse as he travels through the village.

The horse seems to want to wander off and look at the various things in the village square. Albert tries his best to be patient with his steed's curiosity, though he did have somewhere he wanted to go.]

...It's been a long week. And very ... busy, if the journal activity says anything. Caesar would have been appalled by the repeated effects and everyone falling into them again.

We should think about comparing measurements of the barrier again. We have little excuse not to now that the snow is melting.

[ooc: Keyword is go. Yes, Jacob and John, he wants to talk to one of you.]
