∞ 62: Quietly conducting business [voice]

Vyse. Mr. Lowell. Sir Sigmund. May I ask how your group rosters are looking at this time? It's been awhile since I've inquired about this.

And we should consider meeting in person. As soon as is practical to gather everyone.

I believe the experiment is over now. And not a moment too soon; the practical jokes were going stale.

And there are still New Feathers arriving... Hm.

[Yuri's already there as well, leaning against a nearby wall. When Albert and Raine come in, he looks over at them and gives a small, short wave before moving away from the wall. When Sigmund wanders in, he'll be getting a nod.]

[Albert nods to each of the men in turn. He silently tells himself that they need to have these meetings more often, and not only when a dangerous situation is ready to present itself.]

Good afternoon, everyone. [a slight pause] We are waiting on Vyse, then?

[Right on cue, Vyse comes running towards the scene. Gosh, why is everyone already here? He's not that late, is he? He'll just give everyone an apologetic grin, then.]

I'm here! Sorry I'm so late.

[Raine nods a greeting to Yuan and Yuri, and then Sigmund when he comes in.]

That's fine, Vyse. We've all just arrived ourselves.

I would prefer we move to another location from here to avoid eavesdropping on our meeting. [Thankfully, the building isn't too far away from their current meeting place.] We also still don't know which areas have surveillance. [He hopes it's fairly obvious why he would want to move them to the barracks.]

Please follow me.

[Yuan pushes himself away from the wall, ready to follow Albert to this other location. As long as he's sure that area is safe from eavesdropping, it's all fine with him.]

[... Huh. That's a little weird, but understandable. He shrugs a little at that, but doesn't say anything -- he's ready to go off and follow Albert whenever he's ready to go.]

[Sigmund looks at the others. He remembers arguing with Yuan over the journals, but this isn't the time or place to bring that up. When Albert goes, he follows along.]

[The walk isn't long, and the barracks are empty when they arrive. As far as Albert knows, it stands empty fairly often considering its purpose.]

Who can say that this building has been in steady use since Mark's commission to have it constructed?

[Raine frowns, glancing around at the inside.]

Judging by the looks of things, it seems that it may only be used sparingly. It is a bit out of the way for some people. [She'll fall silent and let the others confirm a little more though.]

[Vyse is glancing around as well, taking the building in. He knew it existed, he just never really considered going here.]

I can't say I've ever actually been inside this place. Haven't heard too many people talking about going here, either.

I've checked the place out once or twice, but I keep forgetting it exists. Could be the reason why no one says anything about it.

I haven't been here often, either. I prefer to train closer to home. Are you suggesting we find more of a use for it?

Correct. An empty building built by a resident as opposed to the Malnosso is a resource to be taken advantage of. As we already know, surveillance is done through the journals and in various points of the village. We can operate in this building with perhaps a degree of freedom more than our own houses.

It's also an opportunity to establish more organization. I would suggest that each of your groups make use of this building for proper meetings. This is especially important as your rosters grow larger.

I can see how that'd be handy, but what would the meetings be about? The Rogues were started to defend the villagers from threats, but we haven't had too many of those we can actually face head-on. It's mostly been experiments that are causing problems for Luceti, so it'd only be experiments we could talk about, right? I think the same would count for Sigmund's group and Brave Vesperia.

[he casts a quick glance to Sigmund and Yuri, waiting to see if they have an opinion on this.]

Well, what about new ideas or assigning jobs for the downtime we're hit with? I doubt we'd need to have constant meetings even with that, but there are other things that could be brought up during them.

If we wish to try and do anything more pro-active against the Malnosso, this would be an ideal place to try and organize it. We don't know what they're going to throw at us, but we can at least take a look at experiments they've already done and try to have a strategy prepared for the next time chaos erupts. It won't be perfect, but it may be faster.

Similarly, finding a way to group healers together to dispatch them with the Blue Rogues, Brave Vesperia, and my group in times of need could also be discussed here.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe a member of the Blue Rogues had made a list of the available healers some time ago, as well as the maintainer of the clinic. I'm not certain of how up to date the said list is, or how many are directly affiliated with the clinic, however. It could be something to look into, instead of us scrambling like we usually do...

In any case, it seems logical to use this building. If we can find a way to encourage more involvement from the other residents, we ourselves may become more productive.

It's becoming far too common a trend for New Feathers to be left to their own devices, too. The longer they remain unattached to a cause, the more likely it is they will fall into the same pit of inactivity that some residents are in. I encourage each of you to advise your groups to reach out to New Feathers. We have an especially high amount of them now, considering the influx in the last month or so.

I can ask Sonic about the list. He made it back in April, I think, so it's going to need to be updated again. But at least it'll be better than nothing. Aside from that, I've made a note of which members of the Blue Rogues have healing abilities.

Anyway, if we want more involvement from New Feathers, we'll have to talk them off the journals and explain what's really going on. That's either in person or using those laptop things from the tunnels.

If they'll let us, we can tell them about it while taking them back to the village. That's something I told my guildmates to do a while ago, but I guess it didn't really stick for too long. Otherwise, we can keep doing it through the laptops.

Unless someone else has a better idea.

Is there a type of code that we can use? Something that means little or nothing to the Malnosso, but that we can use to get around their surveillance? It would take a great deal of work to implement, but it could work towards letting the New Feathers know more about what is going on here.

Or another group similar to Canard could be established, with villagers specifically geared towards integrating New Feathers and explaining things that can and can't be talked about over the networks.

Codes would be something we could work towards implementing, as long as we were all on the same page with them. They could help with arranging meeting locations.

I was hoping that Canard would take the initiative, given the slight interest in it once more, but nothing seems to have come of it as of yet. We have a lot of work to do, in terms of getting our acts together with general organization.

In any case, the cycle has gone on for so long this time around that there is a lot of catching up to do.

Codes require constant vigilance. We could establish a new code each meeting, for security's sake. Ideas on codes and their meanings?

The issue with relying on another group to explain the situation is that they should not be held responsible for something everyone in the village should be aware of. If you have the opportunity to meet a New Feather in person, you should explain what you can. Canard does not even benefit from having a standard way of informing New Feathers of what is going on.

Hold your meetings at your discretion, if you must. But recognize the benefits -- especially considering the nature of this place. If you cannot account for a 'member' beyond their initial recruitment, should they be on your roster when a dangerous experiment or something else comes up? Case in point, the situation we are currently facing.

I hardly see the need for such a code. We've already established this is the safest location and Albert can easily round us all up if there's ever an urgent need for another meeting.

As for Canard, as far as I can tell it's out of the equation. That group lacks everything from members to proper leadership. If we want an entire organization to inform New Feathers of the situation, it should either be added to the list of responsibilities of our already existing factions, or we gather a new group of people alltogether.
