∞ 76: Preparations for battle [written]

How disappointing. One would think the Malnosso would compile their willing volunteers instead of taking risks like this.

[Directed towards the drafted residents (even if they refused to go)]

Though some of you have already said you will not participate, I am reminding you that your request has been "noted" and nothing more. It's still entirely possible the scientists will find a way to force you to go. This is said as a precaution; do not presume you will be allowed to stay, and prepare accordingly. There must be a reason they gave such a specific list instead of calling for volunteers to report in.

That said, if any of you wish to participate in planning, or feel the need to go into this battle with some ideas in mind, know that I will coordinate with you as best I can.
I expect we will have a few who will do what they wish out there alone, regardless of any tactics, but the majority will benefit from cooperative attacks.

For those who are unaware, we had previously fought against 300 individuals with a combat force of approximately 150. That battle lasted about two days, with complete elimination of the intruders. The disadvantages this time around are obvious; we will be the invading force with much smaller numbers and on unfamiliar terrain, thus leading to greater risks of fatigue and death.

[Filtered to Ted]

Ted, I would like to speak with you before this reporting date.

[Filtered to Luc and Hugo]

Luc, Hugo. If you are up to some longer-term practice, I would like to speak with you.

[Filtered to Gurren Lagann!Simon]

How have you been doing with your tunneling, Simon?

[Off-journal communication to Yuber]

I believe it is time that I add a clause to the contract.

Albert's also available for action tags. Just notate that it's an action tag in the subject line.]

[...] I am... an assassin.

[Admittedly, he had only been on Team Eliwood a short time when he was home, but he is familiar with the idea of people giving him orders for locations. He doesn't clarify his name or that he was drafted though... he figures the former is irrelevant and the later is self-evident]

[And a little girl will be peering over his shoulder. These two are always in pair. If it was anyone other than Jaffar, she'd keep quiet and listen in the background, but this is one person that she feels completely confident and at ease around, so there's nothing holding her back from wanting to add to what he said, and clarify further.]

And I'm a magic user, sir. Anima, to be precise, which is elemental magic through commuting with the spirits. We're used to fighting together, but under orders. Are you a tactician, mister?

Jaffar.

[That's his answer for his name; from here he's going to allow Nino to do the talking. Just because, well, he doesn't like to talk]

[And she was waiting just for that – his approval or disapproval for her to speak in both their stead. He gave his name and nothing in his demeanor showed opposition – then those are green lights.]

My name is Nino. Jaffar is a highly experienced assassin who took on and accomplished a lot of hard and important jobs at home. I am much less, but I can hold my own. We then joined Lord Eliwood’s army and fought all sorts of enemies before we arrived here –

Oh! [She breaks her even explanation when she remembers something.] Our tactician was sir Mark. I’ve heard that he was here before. Do you know of him, sir Albert?

[identity profile] innocentemerald.livejournal.com 2010-03-11 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I am, too! We all work better under orders, so I'm glad to know that this'll be the same! [She honestly is relieved - she hasn't fought that many battles with the army, but enough to appreciate the tactician as a constant source of advice and support.]

I'm a magic user, so I can attack from close and afar. Rebecca will be coming with us, she's an archer, so she will be a huge help! Jaffar specializes in assassination, but he's really good in close quarter combats too. We've been told that we're fast, so Rebecca and I can attack from behind at what's ahead while Jaffar kills the enemies that get too close. If Ray is joining us too, then we will also be two who can heal. He's an Ancient magic user. Would that be good, sir Albert?

Um, it's called Elder magic too. That's what uncle Canas told me, though people more usually call it 'Dark' magic. [And she pauses to try to remember if it was Elder or Ancient - but she said both, right? So it should be alright...] I can definitely fight with Jaffar and Rebecca! I've only met Ray here, but he's from Elibe too! Uncle Canas used Ancient magic too and I've fought with him before, so fighting with Ray shouldn't be that different.

We'll do our best, so please direct us as you think best! [She smiles cheerfully, and for all that one may know, this isn't a little girl going off to war, but one that's going to go on an outing with all her friends. She's certainly got morale, if nothing else.]
