∞ 76: Preparations for battle [written]
How disappointing. One would think the Malnosso would compile their willing volunteers instead of taking risks like this.
[Directed towards the drafted residents (even if they refused to go)]
Though some of you have already said you will not participate, I am reminding you that your request has been "noted" and nothing more. It's still entirely possible the scientists will find a way to force you to go. This is said as a precaution; do not presume you will be allowed to stay, and prepare accordingly. There must be a reason they gave such a specific list instead of calling for volunteers to report in.
That said, if any of you wish to participate in planning, or feel the need to go into this battle with some ideas in mind, know that I will coordinate with you as best I can.
I expect we will have a few who will do what they wish out there alone, regardless of any tactics, but the majority will benefit from cooperative attacks.
For those who are unaware, we had previously fought against 300 individuals with a combat force of approximately 150. That battle lasted about two days, with complete elimination of the intruders. The disadvantages this time around are obvious; we will be the invading force with much smaller numbers and on unfamiliar terrain, thus leading to greater risks of fatigue and death.
[Filtered to Ted]
Ted, I would like to speak with you before this reporting date.
[Filtered to Luc and Hugo]
Luc, Hugo. If you are up to some longer-term practice, I would like to speak with you.
[Filtered to Gurren Lagann!Simon]
How have you been doing with your tunneling, Simon?
[Off-journal communication to Yuber]
I believe it is time that I add a clause to the contract.
[ooc: The "directed towards" cut is not a filter; anyone can read it. All of Albert's filters are unhackable unless otherwise noted.
Albert's also available for action tags. Just notate that it's an action tag in the subject line.]

Though some would rather fight alone, I feel it best to form a sort of partner system, or to fight in groups of more than two. It's inevitable for us to split apart, yet with the charge of keeping an eye on your partner... Not only would you have extra strength by your side, but you'd also have someone to aid you if you do fall in battle.
[Filtered]
A partner system is conceivable with the numbers provided. [And since people seem to know each other in the group, that will cause the least amount of friction.] Even then, picking terrains to engage on and situations that can be stacked in your favor would need to be done. So skillsets should be complemented as much as possible; a fighter with a medic or healer, or at least someone who can serve to enhance what you can offer.

[Admittedly, he had only been on Team Eliwood a short time when he was home, but he is familiar with the idea of people giving him orders for locations. He doesn't clarify his name or that he was drafted though... he figures the former is irrelevant and the later is self-evident]

And I'm a magic user, sir. Anima, to be precise, which is elemental magic through commuting with the spirits. We're used to fighting together, but under orders. Are you a tactician, mister?

Do you know if the chosen fighters will be able to contact those still in the village through our journals?
no subject
I've been told we will be able to bring our journals. Whether or not we will be in consistent contact with the village remains to be seen.

I'm among the drafted. Kain Highwind, dragoon. I have considerable battle experience.

A pleasure, Sir Kain. Have you seen the picture of the high-rises that are in this Desset City?
