∞ 82: Waiting for the next step [action]

[Now that things have calmed down around the village and the rain from earlier in the week has dried, Albert is getting around to cleaning up his poor garden. Long-wilted white and blue moonflowers and morning glories litter his garden where trellises are propped up next to them, so he's pruning and plucking them out from between the growing flowers.

His horse is hanging around the house today, eating from a bale of hay.

It's a pretty idle scene on a sunny day. At least he's not closed up in his room, reading old books and drinking wine. That can be saved for tomorrow, when the weather's even warmer.]

I'm no longer waking up sore every morning now. [Aaaand he goes for his pockets, producing several sheets of paper.] And I put this together!

[Holy cow, Sokka gets to go in Albert's house. He follows the Silverberg in, waiting to be floored by... well, he's not sure what. It turns out to be rather ordinary, in his opinion.]

Nice place you have.

[Sokka could lie about this. But doing so wouldn't help him at all, would it? He swallows and proceeds to explain what happened, keeping his eye on Albert.]

... I did at first. I grew up in a small village, so the only history we ever had was that passed down by my parents and gran. There wasn't a whole lot of that, because there were things more important to survive. I tried looking at the histories of other worlds for important battles. I thought I could change one and make it sound like it was from my world and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

... I decided to pick a battle I'd seen for myself. I didn't take part in it, because the chief ordered me not to. I think I could have made a difference if I had. So I wrote about that.

[He keeps himself for visibly flinching in expectation of Albert's ensuing judgment.]
