∞ 82: Waiting for the next step [action]

[Now that things have calmed down around the village and the rain from earlier in the week has dried, Albert is getting around to cleaning up his poor garden. Long-wilted white and blue moonflowers and morning glories litter his garden where trellises are propped up next to them, so he's pruning and plucking them out from between the growing flowers.

His horse is hanging around the house today, eating from a bale of hay.

It's a pretty idle scene on a sunny day. At least he's not closed up in his room, reading old books and drinking wine. That can be saved for tomorrow, when the weather's even warmer.]

[Since it's such a nice day, Caesar has decided it's probably about time that he went and spoke to his brother. He spots Astrid near the house before he actually sees his brother, so he lingers about for a while until he finds him.

...of course, when he does see Albert working in the garden, Caesar pauses and just kind of stares at him for a moment. Because... what are you doing, Al.]

[Albert has not yet noticed his visitor, so he continues working on a particularly sad-looking set of vines with many wilted flowers. This certainly doesn't count as a strategist getting his hands dirty.]

[No, it really doesn't. Caesar adjusts the strap of the bag he's carrying over his shoulder (because he couldn't forget his brother's clothes, nope) before he finally decides to walk over and stand beside Albert. He doesn't say anything right away, though, instead just watching him work on the sad little flowers.

Caesar can tell that he knows what he's doing. And this is really weird to him.]

[Albert has his flowers to tend to. Raine's on the other side of the house, checking on the state of the herbs and vegetables. Occasionally she'll check on the clothing line, which has drying curtains on them. Some things just seemed better off being sun-dried than dryer-dried. She's also wearing a simple straw sun hat.]

[It's a little while before Albert rounds the house, followed by Astrid. He loosens the bale of hay so it's easier for the horse to pull apart.]

...How are the tomatoes?

[She looks up from where she had been tending one of the plants.] ... Under the circumstances, they're holding up a lot better than expected. They're still small, but hopefully they'll be able to grow in some peace for the next few weeks.

How are the flowers looking?

[Today? Well, Buffy's dropping by on purpose. She was going to march right on up and knock but seeing Albert in the garden changes her mind.

She calls out, instead:]

[Albert looks over towards the road when he hears the familiar voice, dusting at his gloves as best he can while holding a pair of scissors.]

Good afternoon, Buffy.

What's up, huh? Getting rid of the weeds?

[Aerith is surveying the flowers, taking note of the damage. The flower shop didn't end up with quite as many dead...they probably got lucky.]

It hasn't been a very good time for the plants.

[He takes note of his visitor, nodding slightly.] Indeed. I suppose I should be relieved they haven't burned away.

[She makes a face at that because oh, flaming tree logs, we did not like you.] No kidding! I never heard about any really big fires...I think we got lucky there. Lots of people protected the village.

[Frey was walking by and noticed a head of red hair, pausing by the yard. That's.... Albert, right?

He remembered him from their conversation over the journals. Might as well say hello properly, then.]

[Albert pauses in the middle of clipping a leaf, turning his head towards the voice before allowing his hands to fall to his sides. He recognizes the prince's face ... though he had somewhat expected him to be slightly taller.]

Greetings, Prince Freyjadour.

[Well, he is only 16. Give him a few years, and maybe he'll grow a bit more.] Pleasure to meet you in person Mr. Silverberg.

[He's going to walk over and look at the garden curiously.] You garden?

[A horse? He became firm friends with the last horse he met! That similiar yet not same horsey smell is making Toboe approach with a mix of curiousity and excitement.]

[Albert doesn't notice this particular visitor right away, but Astrid does. The horse looks over, grinding idly on a mouthful of hay.]

[And because the illusion doesn't work on animals, the red wolf sits down a few feet away with silly grin and wagging tail.] Hello!

[It just so happens that today Sokka is along to deliver the results of Albert's assignment. He was already at the door ready to knock... when he noticed that the Silverberg was actually outside. Huh.]

[Albert looks towards the porch when he hears his name, raising a brow for a moment when he recognizes Sokka.]

Sokka. Good afternoon. [He has a good idea why you're here.]

[Sokka heads towards Albert's direction. He stops a moment to look at the horse. What a freakish animal. The head of an ostrich horse, but the body like a dragon moose. Creepy chimera thing. Sokka eyes it warily before turning his attention back to Albert.]

[Usagi wanders over to Albert when she spots him.]

A nice day for fixing up the garden, huh?

[Considering what Albert had last heard from Usagi, he turns to give her his full attention when he hears her voice.]

[Diana is flying low around town when sees the horse, and she lands in front of it. Thinking it's just a random horse, she approaches it and pats its head. She has an affinity with animals, but even then this one may not take a liking to her.]

[The horse has a few patches of healed skin where she was nipped by the Tease, but otherwise she's just fine. Astrid looks at the visitor, flicking her ears in greeting.]
