∞ 87: Rooftops [action]

[Around mid-morning, Albert can be seen picking up small things in the plaza -- nails, pens, groceries. He doesn't often do this, but it's been a week since he gave Caesar the task of repairing the stable, so he finds himself inspecting and repairing the amateurish work. That requires a few extra building supplies. Might as well take advantage of how calm everything is with the New Feathers coming in, right?

Albert spends the afternoon pulling out half-bent nails and readjusting crooked wooden slats. He can't say that he's disappointed, since Caesar actually tried to rebuild the stable's roof, but he can have the opinion that did a really shabby job. Silverbergs were apparently not very good roof-builders.

In the evening, after dinner, he'll be found up on house 42's roof, having climbed up through the skylight. It's something he's never really taken advantage of, and yet there's something familiar about it. He remains out there for a good while, almost meditating.]

[It's a good thing the hammer didn't fly out of his hands because then Usagi would have to laugh at him and tease him relentlessly. She gives him a bright grin and waves.]

Hello to you too, Albert! [A pause as she steps closer and jumps up & down just to see exactly what he was doing.] So, what's with all the hammering?

[He gives a faint wave back, putting down the hammer and scooting towards the ladder. Hey, a break is a break.]

Astrid's stable was damaged in the earthquake. Caesar was tasked with repairing it, but I find myself fixing his work.

And Caesar most certainly doesn't seem like the carpenter type. [a brief pause and then she realizes something] Wait. Shouldn't the building repair itself?

[He shakes his head, giving the roof a pat.] Lloyd Irving built this for me shortly after Astrid arrived. It's not a structure the Organization would maintain.

[She lets out an a long oh, shuffling her foot against the ground for a moment.]

Well. Need any help? I'm not super good at building, but I can give it a go!

[He looks contemplative, then points over to the toolbox still on the ground, near the porch steps.] Will you look in there for a claw hammer? I'm afraid I grabbed the wrong one for what I need to do up here. [That is, he needs something for pulling out all the badly placed nails.]

Sure! [scurry scurry. she goes through the toolbox, looking for whatever a claw hammer is. She assumes it looks like a claw--and, oh, this looks kind of like a claw. She waves it at him.]

Is this is it, Albert?

[Well, it certainly looks like a claw hammer. He leans forward slightly, nodding.] Yes, that would be it. [He moves a bit closer so he can take the tool.] Thank you, Usagi.

[She grins widely, chest puffing out in pride, and mock salutes him] You're very much welcome, Albert! I'm glad I got it right on the first try!
