∞ 87: Rooftops [action]

[Around mid-morning, Albert can be seen picking up small things in the plaza -- nails, pens, groceries. He doesn't often do this, but it's been a week since he gave Caesar the task of repairing the stable, so he finds himself inspecting and repairing the amateurish work. That requires a few extra building supplies. Might as well take advantage of how calm everything is with the New Feathers coming in, right?

Albert spends the afternoon pulling out half-bent nails and readjusting crooked wooden slats. He can't say that he's disappointed, since Caesar actually tried to rebuild the stable's roof, but he can have the opinion that did a really shabby job. Silverbergs were apparently not very good roof-builders.

In the evening, after dinner, he'll be found up on house 42's roof, having climbed up through the skylight. It's something he's never really taken advantage of, and yet there's something familiar about it. He remains out there for a good while, almost meditating.]

[Late afternoon, Buffy walks by. Now, she often gets a little nosy 'round Albert and Raine's place because--frankly--she hates to pass up a chance to talk to either of them. So, wandering around to the stable, she looks pleased to find the tactician there.]

[Albert tilts his head down when he sees the familiar blond, pleased to see her once again looking ... well, comfortable with Luceti. Had it been that long since he had last spoken to her?]

I'm not sure. I'm considering this something of a punishment upon myself.

[Usagi has to do a double take when she spots Albert up on the stable rooftop. It takes her a minute of watching before she finally yells, loudly speaks]

I never really saw you as the carpenter type!

[If he had been the type to startle easily, that hammer he's swinging would've flown right out of his hands at Usagi's yelling voice. He peers down over the edge, seeing the girl.]

...I wouldn't either. Hello, Usagi.

[It's a good thing the hammer didn't fly out of his hands because then Usagi would have to laugh at him and tease him relentlessly. She gives him a bright grin and waves.]

Hello to you too, Albert! [A pause as she steps closer and jumps up & down just to see exactly what he was doing.] So, what's with all the hammering?

Albert blinks as he becomes aware of someone up on the roof with him.]

Yep. Most of the time.

[Then your roof had better be damn sturdy. Sheena could find a hole anywhere...except an earthquake.]

[Frey blinks when he spots the usually stoic Silverberg on the stable rooftop, of all places. Fixing it..... huh.] Hello.

[It's definitely an unusual change of pace. ...But don't get used to it.

Albert looks over at the greeting, nodding at the boy.] Good afternoon, Prince.

[He raises an eyebrow at Albert's occupation with the roof.] I didn't know you had a hand with carpentry.
[It just... looks so out of place.] Did something happen?

Because I want them to meet...

[Giles is just out walking - because dammit, if he can walk around Luceti without fear of getting snacked on by vampires, he's going to do so]

[He spots Albert and...pauses.]

[Having been watching the stars idly for a moment, Albert looks down at the voice from the path.] It's certainly pleasant after last week's weather.

[Oh, Caesar knows what Albert is up to today. Of course, he wasn't sure if he was going to be expected to help or not, considering he kind of failed in the first place. So maybe a while after Albert starts trying to fix up his mistakes as usual, he wanders outside to see how everything's going.

He doesn't give him a proper greeting, though. He just kind of yawns. He's tired.]

[Who's being a jerk now? Albert hasn't yet acknowledged Caesar, though he can probably see that flare of red hair out of the corner of his eye. He really doesn't want to hammer his own thumb.]

[Regal has to stop and blink for a moment at the sight of Albert fixing the stable. The tactician never really struck him as the type to do much in the way of physical labor, and it's clear that he doesn't have the most experience in the world at it either. Maybe another pair of hands could make the job easier.]

[The offer doubling as a greeting doesn't surprise him; he knew all too well that he made an odd sight, fixing a roof all by his lonesome. But thankfully he felt he could finish everything within the day.]

I appreciate the offer. But this is something I have to do myself. [It's so wryly said that it doesn't take much to deduce that he doesn't take any pleasure in the task.]

[Albert dismisses a tiny swirl of wind he had been focusing on, tilting his head up when he notices who has come by. He lifts a gloved hand slightly in greeting.]

Good evening. You somehow didn't strike me as a night-time flier.

[It's after dinner.

Seeing that particular bedroom door open while walking down the hallway was enough to give Raine pause, of course. It was always so rarely that the bedrooms were even opened once they were completely emptied, and yet there was the ladder, set up to reach the skylight.

... It could only be Albert, of course. She doesn't disturb him, at least not immediately, though when some more time passes without him returning, she eventually moves to slowly climb the ladder herself.]

[Albert remains quiet and attentive on what he is doing on the roof. He normally doesn't pay the spirits much attention, especially one such as Kipinn. The only one he had found general use for was Faeren.

It isn't much, but even with his gloves on, he can feel the steady swirl of wind between his hands.]
