As a follow-up reminder to Rydia's latest entry, this month is likely to be another New Feather cycle month if the new Organization management continues the trend. The Welcome Center is always looking for volunteers when New Feathers arrive.

While the weather may be warmer, there are still watch stations outside the village that should be maintained and well-stocked. Any volunteers are welcome. For now, I am organizing the effort, but I am looking for someone to take over that responsibility.

[There is a slight pause.] Is anyone working on the farmlands outside the village? I am curious to know what crops are being grown out there.

[Albert isn't up to anything special today. He's finally getting around to taking care of and sharpening that sword he had asked Sokka for during that reality-shifting experiment. He can be found working on the steps of his house, looking the sword this way and that as he works on it; it's more work than he usually has to put into sharpening an axe.

Afterwards, he'll make his usual rounds of tending to his garden and checking on the stables. ...Which will lead to a trip to the grocery store, because the horses need more grains.]

We only talked over the idea when he was last visiting, and a lot has gone on over the last month. Between the draft, school, the experiment... I hadn't really been thinking of that.

We managed a hot springs trip. Perhaps we should have gone to the beach instead. [Just musing aloud.]

The springs were more beneficial at the time. Besides, there are still opportunities to go to the beach.

I'll have to talk to Taichi soon about those arrangements. He said something about trying to find 'water wings' for me. [Wait until she actually finds out what those are.]

...Water wings. [Well, he can probably imagine what they would be used for.]

He seemed excited about it, at least. We'll just have to see how it goes.

I trust he will go very slow with you. Do be sure to communicate your discomfort the longer you are out there.

I will. [She'll try to remember to, anyway.] He's seen me ...react before so I think I can trust him not to immediately expect miracles.

[He nods.] He's seen you react, but he is still a child trying to help an adult. You are more often the teacher and he the student, so he will expect cues from you.

Right.

He's older than he was when he first offered. Maybe it could serve as a lesson in patience as well.

[And if they took it slow enough, hopefully it would stave off from the implications of a child seeing an adult in distress. She's not comfortable with that aspect as it is.]

Well. I have to be able to teach him something from this.

Admirable. But I suppose you will have to see once you are started.

Indeed. There are no guarantees.. but at least we could get started.

[He nods, taking in Raine's room, a bit cluttered now with the addition of items from the school.] Best to start early. Summer is only so long.

Indeed. I'm running out of excuses not to, anyway.

[Her hand absently brushes against the seashells sitting in a small open box on her desk.]

There was something else I wanted to run by you as well.

[That earns a slight raise of the brow.]

Yes... I forgot to mention it at dinner yesterday. Doctor McCoy offered me one of his kittens.

[He nods.] I see. And what did you say?

I told him that I would need to speak to you both about it first before deciding, since you are my housemate. Also, I don't know how Kogoro would behave around a kitten.

You will likely have to keep the kitten to your room until both of them are acclimated to the change. And if it becomes an issue, I suppose I can speak to Caesar about Kogoro staying outside.

Hmm... all right, that seems fair. I don't think they're old enough to leave their mother just yet, so there's still time to decide.

I appreciate the advance notice. A cat will prove to be an additional challenge for our furniture.

Indeed. It's good to have the time for considering something like this. [As opposed to how her other pet was unexpectedly given to her, but Jack's style wouldn't have had it any other way.]

I wonder if I could find something else to train it to scratch on instead of the furniture.
