∞ 96: Reminders [voice/action]

As a follow-up reminder to Rydia's latest entry, this month is likely to be another New Feather cycle month if the new Organization management continues the trend. The Welcome Center is always looking for volunteers when New Feathers arrive.

While the weather may be warmer, there are still watch stations outside the village that should be maintained and well-stocked. Any volunteers are welcome. For now, I am organizing the effort, but I am looking for someone to take over that responsibility.

[There is a slight pause.] Is anyone working on the farmlands outside the village? I am curious to know what crops are being grown out there.

[Albert isn't up to anything special today. He's finally getting around to taking care of and sharpening that sword he had asked Sokka for during that reality-shifting experiment. He can be found working on the steps of his house, looking the sword this way and that as he works on it; it's more work than he usually has to put into sharpening an axe.

Afterwards, he'll make his usual rounds of tending to his garden and checking on the stables. ...Which will lead to a trip to the grocery store, because the horses need more grains.]

There are the two out on the northern fields, and the two to the south in and along the forest. Can you handle the two stations to the north?

[It takes him a moment to match the high-pitched voice to the actual words being said, and his tone is decidedly apologetic.]

I would suggest that it could still be opened in time, but it wouldn't be the same without its owner and main hostess.

[At the very least, it would be an excuse to be out of the village for a while.]

That could be arranged. [A thoughtful pause.] It may not be a bad idea to find insect repellant and leave some in each of the stations as well.

[Caesar isn't up to anything special today, either... or anything at all, really. He heads outside, expecting to find his brother working in the garden or in the stables; not so much on the steps with a sword. Albert's probably already been working for a while by the time his younger brother spots him, but Caesar doesn't observe for very long before he speaks up.]

Must be really bored.

[Let's see... He's had that thing for a while now, hasn't he?]

[Albert doesn't quite react to Caesar's comment, continue to run the whetstone against the blade. A minute passes before he speaks.]

Of course you may. The more volunteers there are, the more often the area will be properly overseen. Would you prefer to stay closer to the village?

[Well, it's encouraging that someone is up there, at least.] How is the work going out there, Stahn?

[Raine's been understandably distracted this past week, with school coming to a close, and coming to terms with a certain person being sent home. For the moment, her hands are full as she carries some personal items from the schoolhouse. A small potted plant--others had been dropped off at the flower shop, along with some materials that she'd rather not leave at the school house unattended for a few months.

She tilts her head when she notices just what Albert's busied himself with. That's definitely not the axe, and her mind immediately goes back to that last day on the battlefield.]

... How is that coming along?

[He stops in his work, looking over at Raine as she comes up to the house.]

It's taking longer than I thought. Do you need help with the door?

Would you be referring to the New Feather stations that Ted built?

That is correct. I have been organizing them since Naoki disappeared.

That's a beautiful garden you have growing there. Would you like some help with it?

[Albert pauses in his work, turning from the trellises to look at who has come up. He nods politely in greeting, his expression not letting on that he recognizes the woman -- from quite awhile ago.]

My thanks, but it's not a lot of work at this point. Just the routine cleaning of the morning glories.
