As a follow-up reminder to Rydia's latest entry, this month is likely to be another New Feather cycle month if the new Organization management continues the trend. The Welcome Center is always looking for volunteers when New Feathers arrive.

While the weather may be warmer, there are still watch stations outside the village that should be maintained and well-stocked. Any volunteers are welcome. For now, I am organizing the effort, but I am looking for someone to take over that responsibility.

[There is a slight pause.] Is anyone working on the farmlands outside the village? I am curious to know what crops are being grown out there.

[Albert isn't up to anything special today. He's finally getting around to taking care of and sharpening that sword he had asked Sokka for during that reality-shifting experiment. He can be found working on the steps of his house, looking the sword this way and that as he works on it; it's more work than he usually has to put into sharpening an axe.

Afterwards, he'll make his usual rounds of tending to his garden and checking on the stables. ...Which will lead to a trip to the grocery store, because the horses need more grains.]

You should know what persistence is, Caesar. [Honestly, he doesn't know what else Caesar could do. It's not like he's actually watching him train Kogoro.]

What if I become too persistent? [He tilts his head, picking up a piece of fruit from his plate.] Won't he hate that?

And what would be the consequence of that? Your dog running away? I'm sure you would be torn up to lose some responsibility.

He also dances on his hind legs and apparently likes miso soup. I'm sure you would survive.

Of course I would. But if he runs away, doesn't it mean I've failed?

No, but... [Is that really the same thing? It's not like the dog was incapable of taking care of himself. Maybe he did have a point.] But if the dog runs away, it's still my fault.

And since when did you take things like that so personally? It's a dog.

A-anyway... I managed to take care of that plant long enough for it to flower, didn't I? I want to look after Kogoro long enough to be able to teach him something, too.

[This isn't the same thing as taking care of a plant, Caesar.]

Need I remind you how many months you have had Kogoro under your care?

[Well, they're pretty similar to him!]

I know, I know. But I only started trying to teach him a couple months ago.

[When he knew that the dog would be staying inside.]

A couple months ago? That's quite a long time in a dog's life, is it not?

[...oh. Yeah. That's right, isn't it?]

Maybe it's time to try something different.

[Or focus on teaching him one thing instead of many different things.]

I would be impressed by him learning at least one useful command. But I'm sure you could do better than that. [Again with the challenges. All the while, Kogoro seems blissfully unaware.]

Of course I can do better than that. [Challenge accepted!] I don't know if I can promise useful, but I'll teach him something.

Useful, Caesar. I don't want you teaching him how to chew up my plants on command or something equally inane.

[He snorts.]

It might be easier than fetch, don't you think?

And that is exactly why I am warning you right now not to go down that route. Because it is easy.

I wouldn't do something like that just because it was easy. I'd do it because you're a jerk. [That's the truth!] Besides, I already promised I'd keep him away from your plants, didn't I? I will keep my promise. Or try to, anyway.

[What was with that last comment?] Are you trying to leave me unimpressed, Caesar?

[That makes Caesar laugh.]

My dear brother, I wouldn't dream of it!

Then you will teach your dog something useful. And keep him away from my plants. While maintaining your chores. [Despite his exasperation, his voice is still conversational, and he finishes his fruit.]
