∞ 43: Reunion [voice]

This has been a rather boring passage of time. I can see why the others were eager to move on from this fort; there's not much here at all.

Noishe has been quiet since I began running a few experiments; he must not have--

[There some sounds of shifting in the sand, then boots on wood as Albert climbs a bit to higher ground.]

...Oh. Is that your group out there, Vyse? Welcome ba--

... ...

I think Noishe is running out to greet your group.

A little while. The Professor's talking to Albert.

[oh, good, then Yuan hasn't caused a hold-up.]

I'm sure those two have a lot of information to exchange.

Where'd you go off to, anyway?

The other side of the barrier. I needed to be sure if there wasn't anything worth while there.

Nothing of interest. Just more mountain range, forest and the river's origin.

[yeah, that's right. He spent several hours chilling in a spring on top of the mountain while everyone else was dusting away out here. Because he's a selfish jerk like that.]

[fortunately for you, when Lloyd puts two and two together it makes three.] So you don't think we could break it from this side?

Not even Judgment was able to do any kind of damage. Plus, the damned thing's huge. I tried flying all the way to the top, but it's just impossible.

Dammit... then the only thing we can do is look for the machine making it.
fortunefail: (Pondering)

[personal profile] fortunefail 2008-12-12 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
So it seems. There's no telling where this machine is, though. Logically, it'd be at the center of the dome. But if it were, we'd have noticed it by now.

[identity profile] kid-in-red.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought it'd be underground or something.
fortunefail: (Problematic)

[personal profile] fortunefail 2008-12-12 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Granted, with the appearance of one tunnel, the chances of another underground passage are greater. But a machine can't properly function in a closed off space like that. At least, not without constant maintenance.

[action]

[identity profile] kid-in-red.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, then wouldn't it make more sense that the machine's outside the barrier? So the Malnosso can get at it and we can't?
fortunefail: (Problematic)

[action]

[personal profile] fortunefail 2008-12-12 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Very unlikely. In order to project a dome-shaped barrier, the source needs to be at the center. Either that, or several smaller machines are aligned all around it. I've seen no proof of that, so far.

[absentmindedly running a hand through his hair.]

Of course, there are hundreds of other theories, each as unlikely as the next. But we can't rule out the possibility of any one of them without more knowledge about the barrier itself.

Something's making it, though.

It might not even be a machine. It could be created by an object similar to the Eternal Sword, or even some sort of spiritual being.

[action]

[identity profile] kid-in-red.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
...I guess the Eternal Sword wouldn't be much help here either, huh? I can't really hear Origin, even out here.
fortunefail: (Problematic)

[action]

[personal profile] fortunefail 2008-12-12 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
The Eternal Sword can alter time and space, yes. But I believe that only counts for our universe, as it's being watched over by the Summon Spirits. Origin has no influence over this world.

[action]

[identity profile] kid-in-red.livejournal.com 2008-12-12 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
But Sheena can still bring the summon spirits here somehow...
fortunefail: (Unimpressed)

[action]

[personal profile] fortunefail 2008-12-12 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Summoning them here with the aid of a pact isn't the same as having them alter the rules of a universe they're not familiar with.

[he's gonna keep walking now. If Lloyd's got a good nose, he'll smell the lingering scent of... soap? Well, so much for helping Zelos dispose of the "smelly" predicament. Yuan used the one bar of soap he brought.]
