[There's the sound of a book being dropped, then papers being scattered.]

...I am not amused.

[He curses at something not visible on the journal's little visual screen.]

Get off me, you-- Rune!

[ooc: Since runic legendary creatures (that is, the Rune incarnates) seemed a little ... out of his league, Albert's now a rather infamous ... person from his world.]

[Raine keeps quiet for now, continuing to check over the owl, using some of her healing powers in an attempt to stabilize him.]

[When Albert speaks, the 'borrowed' voice is directly behind her.]

Is he dead?

[That's rather perturbing, but she masks that, as per usual]

He's not dead, but he's not entirely stable yet either.

That's too bad.

It'll take a little time, but he should be fine, in the long run... though considering the situation, it might be for the best if I took him back to my room, until this experiment business is sorted out and he fully recovers.

[There is a long silence.]

Why?

He has a tendency to not think before he acts, and this likely has given him some trauma. Surely you've considered that. [She murmurs another healing spell, and checks the bird's vitals] Hmm... that's a little better.

Are you all right?

He is rather ... hotheaded, for a bird. [He eyes the fallen bird carefully, but only for a moment.]

I'm fine.

He seems to have given you a nasty scratch. [She finally lifts her head away from the bird to look at him] Let me take care of that.

Do as you must, Professor. I don't feel it.

Even if you don't feel it, if it's left alone it risks infection. Do you have any washcloths in here, or should we move to another room?

Let's ... move out of here. I don't want to be in this room right now.

[He pauses.]

[Raine nods, and stoops to gather up the owl, and then turns back towards the door, studying "Albert" for a moment.]

... All right. That's probably best.

[Albert silently moves over to pick up the books on the floor, shaking his head. He doesn't like this at all. He needs to not be able to see his reflection right now.]

[First things first; the bird. While Albert busies himself with straightening up his mess, she moves towards the door with Rune. Though since her hands are full, she can't open the door, so she waits.]

[Albert exits the room shortly after her, shutting the door. His footsteps make no sound as he walks down the hall and to Raine's side.]

Thank you for taking care of him.

[With that, he opens her door.]

... You can thank me by giving me an explanation after I get him settled.

[With that, she steps inside.]

[He leans against the doorframe, not wanting to enter the room after her.]

An explanation of what, exactly?

[If he were to take a better look around, even without entering, he'd see that she was in the middle of... "organizing" papers, some in piles on the bed in the corner and others on the desk.

The body you're currently inhabiting, of course.

[She finds a cloth to dry the blood from the bird's talons before settling him... somewhere comfortable, in there.]

[You better not lose him in the middle of all of your papers, Raine. Albert watches quietly, though his gaze is really obscured by the hat he's wearing.]

A demon from my world. Clearly I didn't realize my own strength when I tried to remove Rune.

[The owl will be fine. Raine casts one last stabilizing spell on him before turning, finding another washcloth, and spare note paper, before turning towards Albert again]

... Clearly.

[He shakes his head again. The long hair is a strange new weight he will have to get used to. It's only a week. His calm tone belies how he really feels about this turn of events.]

I suppose this is better than being turned into a ... dragon, or something else large and cumbersome.

Judging from what's been said, there seem to be a lot of those popping up. We're lucky that Mark is in the clinic, or he'd throw a fit.

[She indicates his cheek] May I?

A fit? I'm unaware of what dragons signify in his world.

[To the question, he gives a slight nod.]

[Nods, and then moves to step out of the room, since he doesn't seem to want to come inside.]

Mm... it's a long story, which goes back to an ancient war he told me about called the Scouring... actually, he wrote out the details of what he knew down for me. It's quite interesting. Apparently they are a quite powerful race...

Mark certainly seems quite frightened of the mere prospect of them, especially at the thought of the Malnosso being able to summon them. He's fretted quite often on the subject, particularly after his first kidnapping... and even though none of the current situation is related to his world's dragons, unfortunately, he is unable to differentiate between what he knows and the truths of what we face here.
