∞ 67: A practiced hand [action/voice]

[It's an early overcast morning in Luceti. Just beyond the makeshift barricades to the east of the village are several tree stumps, reminders of the flurry of activity before the August battle. If anyone happens to be passing by or through the area, they may see a horse and rider moving amongst the tree stumps. It's a well-practice motion now, quickly weaving through the tree stumps. Some of the sounds may be audible over the journal.

There's a pause as Albert brings his horse to a stop. And then a sigh audible over the journal.] I want something to drink. ...Perhaps tomorrow night.

[Then it's back to practicing.]

[Another newcomer. Albert looks at the barricades before replying.] A battle. We had invaders from outside the barrier who were attacking the village almost two months ago now. People who wanted to kill us all.

Why would they want to do that?

They have their own agenda that they wished to ... impart upon us. But to do so, they would need to kill multitudes of us at the same time. Not a pleasant idea by any means.

They sound as bad as the Malnosso. Are there many groups like that in this world?

As far as we know, the only major groups in this world are the Malnosso and those attackers, who we can the Third Party. Beyond that, we know surprisingly little about the world beyond the barrier; none of our captors deigns it necessary for us to know what's out there.

Then it seems like a lack of knowledge is one of our biggest problems.

Correct. Unfortunate, but without ways to gather intelligence ourselves, we have to rely on outside sources of information.

Sources whose intentions may not to our favor. I'm beginning to see the depth of our problems.

Indeed. Add to all of this the 'revolving door' effect that bring people in and takes people out of Luceti, and you have a difficult situation to work with.

Organization becomes difficult, too. The Malnosso are clever. If they keep the right things from us, it doesn't matter how strong we are.
