Welcome to all the New Feathers of this cycle. I am sure that residents, especially the volunteers working in the Welcome Center, have been helpful as you adjust to your surroundings.

Some may have noticed that there are stations some distance away from the village -- watch stations where New Feathers may find clothing or shelter. Residents may also use them as stopping points as they explore the surrounding forests and plains. They are maintained by a group of volunteers, which has been without a head organizer for a few months now. If anyone is interested in taking on this responsibility, please speak with me, Albert Silverberg.

Recent additions to the enclosure are the expansive farmlands to the northeast of the village. There are numbers of farm animals and growing crops up there that are in need of caretaking. While the village has the grocery store for easy access to food, I am sure some would relish opportunity to work with crops and animals.

If there are any questions about these subjects, they may be asked here. Thank you.

[Around noon, Albert may be found in the clothing store, looking for clothing for warmer weather. Maybe he'll attempt to tan this year. It's been awhile.

Later in the day, he will be in the stables tending to his horse. He will be out there for several hours before retiring for the evening to the house, reading a "Computers for Seniors for Dummies" book. Very funny, Bil.]

[Albert blinks at the touch, though he doesn't move away or even look at Buffy strangely; his expression is only vaguely amused as he responds.]

Update? I'm simply in need of a few shirts now that the weather is warmer. [There were more days of very hot weather now, which were forcing him out of his thicker clothing.]

Yeah. Update. Keeping on track with the many ever-changing fashion trends.

[ of which there are very few in luceti; buffy knows this. she likes to pretend, though. ]

I'm afraid I don't keep track of fashion trends as closely as you do, Buffy. [As it is, now that he is not wearing his coat, he's wearing a long-sleeved black v-neck and black pants. ...Yeah.]

And that's why I have the more fulfilling social life. [ she quips, reaching for a polo top. ] Or -- I'm lying. My social life sucks. I'm the weirdo who perpetually keeps her foot in her mouth.

[ more likely the truth rests somewhere between the two options. still, she smiles smallishly at the man and holds the top out. ] Try it on? You don't have to keep it. Just -- please?

[He snorts a bit at the quip, especially as she corrects herself. But he does in fact take the shirt, carefully undoing the top button or two.] Not enough friends for you to dress up? [He offers his own joke as he twitches his wings to withdraw underneath his shirt.]

After the first few times, they tend to stop humouring me.

I can't imagine why. [He heads over to a changing stall so he can slip the shirt on. He isn't exactly modest, but he would rather not make things anymore awkward than necessary.]

I'm sure you'll join their ranks soon enough. [ she calls after him.

buffy is quite thankful that albert heads to the stall. she can be quite modest herself despite the forthright personality and would've looked away anyway -- at least at first. even if it would be just a bit of male shirtlessness. ]

[He exits the stall in only a minute or two, still buttoning up the shirt as he walks back over. Rather skillful, considering he's still wearing those black gloves.]

I like the collar.

It looks really good on you, Albert.

[ another small smile. ] You should get it. Promise me you'll get it?

I have no reason not to. Thank you for the suggestion. [He looks for a nearby mirror, eying the collar again.]

[ oh no. now she's been encouraged. she picks up something else. ]

In that case, have you ever considered the wide and varied applications of the man-scarf?

[He raises a brow.] ...I wasn't aware there were such wide and varied uses of a scarf. [A scarf is a very practical accessory.]

Of course! There's...looking good. And keeping warm. And looking even better.

[ a few months ago she would have been as bold as to wrap it around him herself; however, right now buffy is interested in maintaining professional boundaries. she hands it over to him. ]

And this scarf would not be strange in this weather? [He takes the scarf, looking it over before carefully arranging it around his neck and musing aloud.] Black and blue.

It still gets pretty rainy and miserable until the end of June, if you ask me. Home would be so much nicer, right now.

You are much more used to hot and dry weather, I take it. [He looks at himself in a mirror, picking at the scarf. He's never experimented with scarves and short-sleeved tops.]

There was a desert not far out of town. It was that kind of a climate.

So being surrounded by trees and rivers is quite a change for you.

Oh, we had trees. Just...different kinds. There's not a whole lot of wild where I'm from. Or -- there is, just not near me. It's all pretty changed and cultivated and built on.

Would you prefer it, now that you have been here awhile? Away from the wilderness and less cultivated village?

...Probably? Yes. But even if I was back in my own world, Albert -- I couldn't go back home.

[Considering what he knows of her world...] Too dangerous?

The whole town's just a crater, now. My old house doesn't even exist.

[...] But you and your friends survived.
