∞ 94: The basics [written/action]

Welcome to all the New Feathers of this cycle. I am sure that residents, especially the volunteers working in the Welcome Center, have been helpful as you adjust to your surroundings.

Some may have noticed that there are stations some distance away from the village -- watch stations where New Feathers may find clothing or shelter. Residents may also use them as stopping points as they explore the surrounding forests and plains. They are maintained by a group of volunteers, which has been without a head organizer for a few months now. If anyone is interested in taking on this responsibility, please speak with me, Albert Silverberg.

Recent additions to the enclosure are the expansive farmlands to the northeast of the village. There are numbers of farm animals and growing crops up there that are in need of caretaking. While the village has the grocery store for easy access to food, I am sure some would relish opportunity to work with crops and animals.

[Around noon, Albert may be found in the clothing store, looking for clothing for warmer weather. Maybe he'll attempt to tan this year. It's been awhile.

Later in the day, he will be in the stables tending to his horse. He will be out there for several hours before retiring for the evening to the house, reading a "Computers for Seniors for Dummies" book. Very funny, Bil.]

[It may still be the middle of the day, but it's a rare chance to catch Albert alone. While he's in the stables, Albert may get the sensation he's being... watched.

But Batman comes out into the open to talk to Albert before long. He might catch sight of Batman from the corner of his eye as he speaks up.]

Albert Silverberg. We need to talk.

[Albert is used to unexpected guests of varying levels of amicability, so he doesn't startle at the sensation of being watched or Batman's eventual non-greeting. He turns his head slightly towards the masked man, not stopping the steady brushing of his horse's mane.]

It's about the Malnosso. Conversing with "Sir Catherine" after the experiment produced some valuable information.

[ buffy is at first glad to see albert in the clothing store; her gut reaction is to smile and stride her way over and reach for his elbow in a most friendly kind of gesture. the awkward doesn't quite sink in for a few seconds. ]

You're not looking to update your wardrobe, are you?

[Albert blinks at the touch, though he doesn't move away or even look at Buffy strangely; his expression is only vaguely amused as he responds.]

Update? I'm simply in need of a few shirts now that the weather is warmer. [There were more days of very hot weather now, which were forcing him out of his thicker clothing.]

Yeah. Update. Keeping on track with the many ever-changing fashion trends.

[Warmer weather or not, there's a ninja in here that's picking out nothing but dark shirts with long sleeves. He turns when he hears someone come in.] Yo.

[Albert is still wearing that full-length trenchcoat in this weather, so the choice clothing probably wouldn't surprise him were he to see it. He nods at Shikamaru in greeting as he enters.]

Shikamaru.

[Action] ...sorry, it seems my muse can't be bothered to have a casual conversation today

Long time no see. [He takes another shirt off a hanger - it'll probably fit, he thinks - and tucks it under one arm. That has him just about done here.]

We should probably talk later.

[After reading Albert's announcement of sorts some time ago, Frederic spies the man in the clothing store which he had happened to be shopping in at the same time.]

Good afternoon Mister Silverberg, it has been some time.

[Albert has been looking over what appear to be fingerless gloves when he hears the cultured voice, and he nods in greeting.]

Good afternoon, Mr. Chopin. How have you been? [Hopefully it has been long enough from the experiment that the man was not dwelling on any bad thoughts pertaining to it.]

[Frederic tries his best to look cheerful, but finds himself unable to truly seem in a good mood. So much has been on his mind, he has no where to even begin trying to sort it out.]

I've been...well, for the most part. And yourself?

[Caesar has been trying to keep himself busy lately, even if it hasn't been terribly obvious. Checking on Kogoro is a part of his daily routine now, though, and as a result, he happens to be out anyway. When he finishes up with him, he decides to stop by the less empty stables. He should see Astrid even if Albert isn't there, so he quietly wanders in and looks around.]

[Astrid is out of the stables and grazing in the corral, tail swatting back and forth languidly. Albert is out of sight at the moment, putting away a feedbag he was using for his horse.

Eventually, he'll come out of the storage shed. But Caesar may have a few moments to himself.]

[Since Astrid happens to be out, Caesar will hang out by her for a little while. He won't get too close, of course, but just enough to watch her for a few moments.

Naturally, when he hears Albert approaching, he's going to pretend that he wasn't keeping an eye on the white horse. He waves to him.]

[Frey was looking through the clothing store for lighter clothes as well. Currently, he's eyeing a fire engine red short sleeved top curiously.]

[Albert looks over at the prince, observing him and the fact that he is currently alone before approaching.] Good afternoon, Prince.

[Well, it's nice to hear someone is enthused about that fact.]

They are. They are not receiving the same level of attention as they were during that last experiment, though.

[ School during the early part of the day, checking in on Derek later, using the time in between to handle a few other errands. This is how it's been for most of the week, anyway, not really leaving much time for unwinding. Being preoccupied will do that.

So for now she's in the kitchen, putting together a light fruit salad for a dessert. ]

[With dinner already behind them, Albert has little reason to head over into the kitchen once he's sat down with a book. But once he's past a lengthy introduction and a few chapters, he stands and heads into the kitchen to get himself a glass of wine.]

Still hungry? [He inquires upon seeing Raine preparing fruits.]
