As a follow-up reminder to Rydia's latest entry, this month is likely to be another New Feather cycle month if the new Organization management continues the trend. The Welcome Center is always looking for volunteers when New Feathers arrive.

While the weather may be warmer, there are still watch stations outside the village that should be maintained and well-stocked. Any volunteers are welcome. For now, I am organizing the effort, but I am looking for someone to take over that responsibility.

[There is a slight pause.] Is anyone working on the farmlands outside the village? I am curious to know what crops are being grown out there.

[Albert isn't up to anything special today. He's finally getting around to taking care of and sharpening that sword he had asked Sokka for during that reality-shifting experiment. He can be found working on the steps of his house, looking the sword this way and that as he works on it; it's more work than he usually has to put into sharpening an axe.

Afterwards, he'll make his usual rounds of tending to his garden and checking on the stables. ...Which will lead to a trip to the grocery store, because the horses need more grains.]

Then I'll distract them long enough to find my way out of it. [He almost sounds dismissive, though. He hasn't been in a situation like that in a long time, so it wasn't like he'd had anything planned.] I don't think I'd be able to deal with those Shift Hunters on my own, however.

[Oh, that dismissive tone. Albert will ignore it for now.] Indeed. Shikamaru has given me a good estimate of their speed, and you have no chance running away from them.

I didn't think so. That would be far too easy. [What a pain. He sighs a little.] But I don't intend to try my luck against those jerks.

[Especially not when he knew that his brother had already had a bad experience with them. There was no guarantee that he would not end up affected by some kind of shift in the future that would get their attention, either.]

Then take some precautions. I don't particularly care what -- learn to use a weapon, find yourself a good bodyguard, something sensible for the situation. [He pauses with a frown.] I shouldn't have to tell you this.

I'd say you've put things in perspective for me. [If he hadn't said anything, he wouldn't have known how serious this was. ...not until he'd had his own bad experience with these monsters, at least.] I'll look into it, okay? I'll figure something out. I'll be so prepared by the next draft, you won't even realize it's me!

I know how dismissive you can be. Good ideas shouldn't have to come from me before you consider them. [What if he disappeared and Caesar was left alone here? ...Not that that seemed likely.]

I would have considered it when I knew it was necessary. [...well. Maybe. And by that time, it might've been too late.] But I won't just dismiss this.

Good. I would be disappointed if you did. [And disappointment from him? Not a particularly good thing in the long run.]

I'm afraid I can't have that. [He doesn't want that. He's disappointed his brother too much already.] I won't let you down.

[...which meant he should probably get started on this soon, or his brother will think he hasn't been doing anything. Sigh. He stands up straight, stretching his arms.]

Fixing that thing up can't be all you're doing today.

[He looks at the sword, raising a brow at Caesar's comment.]

...And if it is?

If it is, I'll be stuck in the stables all by myself today! Who wants that?

You could do with some more hard labor. Such a pampered lifestyle you have, sleeping in all you wish and only doing chores because your elder brother would otherwise disapprove.

But I do them, don't I? They get done, and that's what's important.

[He really doesn't want to have to do all that work by himself. Again.]

I suppose there will always be those who only do enough to get by.

What else am I supposed to do? I think my new chores keep me busy enough as it is.

["New chores" mostly referring to looking after Kogoro and helping out in the stables. That was a lot more work than he was used to.]

Playing with your dog is a chore? [My, my. Just when he thought Caesar actually liked the dog!]

My apologies. I suppose we should take that work off your hands so you can take on more responsibilities.

I can handle them both just fine, thank you very much.

[Not that he would like more responsibilities. But he does like Kogoro, so he'd learn to deal with it.]

Of course not. But I will be so exhausted when I finish, I may not be able to make it back to the house!

[And he'll have to nap on a bale of hay...!]

How lamentable. I'm sure Astrid will be more than happy to ensure you are not stranded in the stables.

How very kind of her. [It's not like being stranded in the stables would be the worst thing to happen to him. And he's done this work before, so...] Fine. But I'm not sure I can take on any more responsibilities if I'm in the stables all day.
